In the far cry 3 options there Is a Frame Buffer option with Off, 1,2,3,4,5. When I put it on it seemed to lower performance. What is the benefit of having it on?
If it works like triple buffering does, it stores extra frames in vram until they can be displayed on the monitor. Only works if your graphics card can provide enough frames to do that in the first place though and smooths out vsync drops in framerate when the vsync limit can't be reached. If you've enabled it in FC3, you've probably run out of VRAM, slowing your performance down massively.
I'd probably keep it at 0 tbh and let the card do the talking. Its fast enough for great FPS so personally I wouldn't bother touching the frame buffer setting.
