Indeed

This is definately a problem for the Wii, where they try to port games sold on their graphics and environments (a key point to the far cry series) to a lesser system.

In the case of farcry, IGN were correct about the graphics as it forms part of the whole game experrience. The atmosphere of a game environment creates a big part of the gameplay these days for example with Oblivion where imo quality graphics are needed to deliver this.

Just sharing an interesting review with my fellow console forumers

Perhaps it might help people save their hard-earned on a game which they might otherwise have bought

I don't do it often because usually someone else beats me to it

I searched but couldn't find a recent thread on this game so I thought I'd start a new one. If a game is apparently *that* bad then people ought to know about it so as not to waste thirty quid or whatever it costs

Thanks for this, I was looking into getting it but screenshots put me off, I thought it was just a dodgy hand held cam that took them so didnt think they were actually that bad

Although I am surprised, you didnt highlight the bit about bad framerates in big bold size 50 letters?

farcry was one of my favourite games on the box, and the 360 version is just as good too. Like PDZ, its one people seem to slate a lot but I quite like it.

Although i can imagine it not being as good without the nice graphics

I'm glad I saw this thread to be honest, I was quite tempted to give the game a whirl but I'm not now

Once Zelda and Red Steel are done I don't know what I'll play next

(Even considered COD3 as it doesn't do THAT badly on reviews even if I dislike COD1/2 on pc).

Thing is - it's slated for poor graphics in general, not because the Wii's graphics are 'poor'. Graphics most certainly do matter - especially when they're below par for the system they're released on.

I was going to copy and paste from my MSN logs, but I can't seem to find the relevant quote/ It went something like this:

Mate: Far Cry got 4.0 on IGN
Mate: The Wii's not been doing too well with FPS games so far.
Me:

I hope they can master a decent FPS on the Wii. The control system is crying out for one, and Wii Play's little shooting game by itself is enough fun to show that one would work.

EDIT: And this whole "Lets round on dirtydog and call him a Sony fanboy because he's said bad things about the 360 and the Wii" is getting tiresome now. While I don't agree with everything he says, at least he makes decent points, and only about 5% of the replies to him are actually worthwhile, with everyone else just going for the desperate "your a troll :rolleyes:

" approach, which says more about the rest of the forum than it does him.
