Farcry Crysis and the 360

Well according to Epic Games from this OXM scan the 360 is dictating the detail not the PC; (UT2007)

Pretty interesting there and slightly offtopic. :o

I read that as them limiting the visuals to what the 360 can produce at it's best. hence it being the base spec for their visuals. Them not having to scale it down for the 360 is pretty obvious since they have just stated they are basing visual power on the 360.

The difference comes hen the PC's will be playing with much higher resolutions and so will just look crisper regardless. Higher res + same shading and shadows = better looking.

I also have no doubt that the 360 and PS3 could handle Crysis with little scaling down. It wouldn't look quite as good, but then we have seen Crysis looking stunning on an X1900XTX which is not hugely faster than the 360 GPU.
Crytek have 2 other games in development (if not more) so the job posting for a PS3 does not guarantee a Crysis port. i do expect something in the Crysis universe to be put on consoles at some point at least.
I am hugely interested in the other projects too because i think they might deviate from the FarCry/Crysis FPS model a fair bit, or at least one of the two will.

I remember reading an interview with someone from crytek stating they are working on a project not based in the crysis universe.

As much as i would like seeing crysis on the 360/ps3 i would imagine it would look pretty poor tbh compared to the pc version, ps3 has a 7800gtx in which aint really good by todays standards, 360 between a 1800/1900 card so no way could they play crysis in the detail it will look on the pc seeing as you going to need a 8800gtx i would imagine for it too look good.

We've seen Crysis running on X1900XTs and looking damn amazing so there is no way that an 8800GTX is gonna be needed in any shape or form.

Crytek are a good developer that has made a very good and well optimised engine in CryEngine, there is little doubt that CryEngine 2 will be just as well optimised.

I'm not too sure about that - Farcry ran like a dog on the Nvidia cards of its day. Although that's largely to do with Nvidia and their isolation from the DX9 specification processes, I wouldn't say the engine was that great.

um, if you want it running in DX10 and looking its best you will.

At the end of the day even if it does come out on the consoles it will look crap compared to the pc! This topic is pretty interesting atm but i dont want it to go into another pc vs console thread :( But either way consoles are rubbish compared to a decent pc and i think i have the right to say that as i have the 3 next gen consoles and a good pc :)

Where did anyone say anything about DX10? He said you will "need a 8800gtx i would imagine for it too look good."
It looks stunning in DX9. It will look stunning in DX10 on an 8800GTS and 2900XT. Either way, you point is mute.

It will look far from **** and consoles right now are pretty much up their with even the top end PCs. That is from someone that doesn't own any consoles and only a high end PC.

I read somewhere that the machine running the Crysis demonstration was using dual quad cores.

Dunno how true that is. But that'd bring the cost up to £2000 pretty easily :D

Doubt that. Crysis' reference is an 8800GTX and 6300. By the time the game hits release, a system of substantial standard would be floating around that price point. I would even wager that my system in sig would run it at the standards seen in the trailer, and it was just under 700.

Let's just face it. Console gamers just aren't gonna get that kind of thing. Wait for PS4/X720 and maybe they will get lucky, but I doubt that. Current gen consoles can't even manage a 2004 game properly. (Farcry)

Thats because its a poorly coded pile of crap lol not because the systems arent up to standard.
