Fast and easy way of converting all your MKVs to XBOX360 compatible files

Just remember - not all 720p files are created equal :)

For example - Heroes 720p is circa 1.1Gb per episode. I've got a film at home which is also 720p, which is 8GB. Biiiig difference in bitrate- Heroes plays perfectly over homeplug, above certain bitrates (trying to work out what bitrate just now) the HomePlug 85 struggles (for me at least, and that's a new house with good wiring).

Yep realise that, but will give it a go with a range of existing stuff to get a general idea. I could live with some stuff not working (could just bang that on a DVD, or removable storage if under 4GB), but as long as most does I will be happy :)

Good idea. I've been delighted with the Homeplug 85 for the most part, just annoying when I sit down to watch something and it stutters (although to be fair that has only happened with things >8gb or so). I just keep a 20m Ethernet cable in the cupboard, so anything I *really* want to watch which doesn't play over homeplug is still watchable!

Has anyone tried the homeplug things from BT? They are meant to be (up to) 200Mbps. I always thought the actual speed you got was 10% of the max with the home plug stuff.

Just tried streaming 720p content varying in size from ~1GB to ~6Gb to my laptop wirelessly and everything seemed absolutely fine.

That's on a 54Mbps network too so there is hope for wireless yet :)

Not 10% - but not advertised speed. 85Mbps Homeplug provides ~20Mb in practice.

Just tried playing a second 720p MP4 and my 54Mbps wireless was not overly stressed, with peak usage at ~25%. So not bad at all.

Looks like I won't bother trying the homeplug thing out.

Sorry to bump this but does anyone have issues playing files with over a 10mbit data rate off a usb connected hdd?
