Fast But Quiet, Is It Possible?

Hello All

I have recently been looking at the WD Raptor drives but have been told they are kind of loud which I dont want in my current quiet system. But this hasnt put me off finding a fast small drive to run my games and windows off. I currently have a Samsung Spinpoint 160gb which I would keep as a backup hdd to store everything else on. Can anyone give me any reccomendations for a drive that is a bit faster than your average drive but still quiet. It can be anything from IDE to Sata.

The quietest drives are reputedly the Spinpoints, but to be honest, I don't think I could tell the difference really. The fastest non-raptor at the moment iirc are the Seagate 7200.10 drives, starting at 250gig.

The Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 series is the drive of the moment.
I've just bought the 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache version.

New 74GB raptor for windows/programs (or wait for the new 36GB one). These are quieter than the original versions. Then a 320GB Seagate Barracuda for storage. Stick them each in a Silentmaxx enclosure.

I will be keeping my samsung no matter what, So I am sorted for a storage drive.
How well do these silentmaxx cases work then?

My silentmaxx enclosure completely blocks all sound, can't here my raptor one bit.

I can still hear the seeking slightly through my silentmaxx enclosure but i have a very quiet rig. It does cut the noise down a lot though.
