Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD5001AALS)

Is this a good, fast drive to buy? I was looking at a Samsung F1 320g but unsure which would be the fastest.

The F1 is faster than the 500GB black, the other WD blacks are as fast.

Seagate 7200.12 500GB! Been playing with three of these in RAID0 today, may have reached the limit of my motherboard :eek:

. Very fast drives and wisper quiet.

AND they're only £36.98 here on OCUK!!! Bargain

Faster than the ones i mentioned? Are there faster 2.5's available (Not SSD)

There isn't much in it but yeah. Have a look for comparison benchmarks, not the easiest to find.

They're standard size 3.5"; 2.5" drives (cept SSDs) tend to be quite a bit slower
