As the title suggests i want a really fast single hard drive just to install windows on with my seagate for everything else, price is not an issue.

I was looking at the raptors but they only seem to be sata 1 which puts me off a little..

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don't let the fact they are sata 1 put you off at all, the responce time is almost half that of a normal drive which makes a huge difference in itself.

You also still get a very good data throughput.

If price isn't an issue though, you'll want to be looking at 15k rpm scsi hard drives... they're the fastest HDDs available.

There's also the Gigabyte I-RAM, which uses a battery to keep data stored on ram. The only downside to it is the maximum is 4gb (although an 8gb version is coming soon) - you could always have a few of them in raid 0 (so tempting, but expensive)

The IRAM uses ram, so seek time shoots down from ~ 9ms on a normal drive to 4.5ms on a raptor all the way down to ~ 0.01ms on an iram!
