Hello

Im looking for a 128-256 USB drive that has fast speeds all around perferably for less that £30 and that can attach to a keychain. They will mostly be used for connecting to rekordbox to load music and pioneer CDJS.

Any recommends?

Also if its USB and attached to a MacBook using a USB to USB-c adapter, does the adapter speed change the read/write speeds as well?

Cheers

The fastest USB stick I've used which is USB 3.2 and has the normal USB connector is the Sandisk Extreme Pro. Sadly these speeds don't seem to last for too long, which is why I then moved to an M.2 drive in a USB C enclosure which I can also connect to a standard USB port with the right cable.

I like the Samsung Fit drives, but my 128GB one will only write at ~60MB/sec - read speeds are far higher, however. I suspect the 256GB drive will be even faster and suit your needs better.

Honestly, the best USB drive I ever bought, so I bought a 2nd one :D

To get it on a keyring you will need to get your own lanyard though. It reads and writes consistently at 250MB/s on both windows and mac machines (that have SSDs) and the performance is the same whether you use the A or C end.

for the price your looking at you can easily made a m.2 to usb drive, i used the orico m.2 enclosure cost £8 uses realtek chipset so its mega reliable and a cheapo 128gb m.2 from auction which was new pull from an office laptop for £8 inc delivery. no external usb drives will match this for speed

Hey all,

Thanks for the info. Ive decided to do a bit of both.

I got that Vansuny stick @rp2000 suggested to have as the main stick I can have on my keyring as its pretty cheap and reviews seem good enough. Then I'll look into an M.2 drive (only just learnt what they are :) as a sort of backup music storage and DJ stick on less spontaneous outings.

Cheers all!

I could never get a USB drive to give me the same speeds could get with a SSD or NVME externally.

But it depends a lot of the USB port you use.
