If anyone is with fast24 and their net has gone down its because they are in a legal dispute with the company who supplies their internet and they have been cut off. if you phone Net Services, the company who supplies fast24 their internet they will give you internet till the end of the month. after this if the dispute has not been settled they will start charging you.

yea a mate said to me about his connection going down, he's on about migrating to another company. Any idea how this despute happened?

they wouldnt tell me because of legal reasons. fast24 might try and be awkward and not give you a migration code but they have to. a mate had this problem and contacted offcom who gave him the number for net services. net services reconnected me in 1-2 hours and said they are sorting out some letters they are sending to the customers with whats happening

If fast24 are only reselling Netservices, they might not be able to give you a MAC code (though Netservices should). They ain't obliged to give you a code either.

Aye - common misconception.
The MAC code system is purely voluntary - no ISP has to give them out.

You have NO legal or otherwise relationship with Net Services - any more than with the people who supply Fast24 with their electricity.
Which means that NetServices are under NO obligation to provide MAc's - though they may allow one to move to another of their Visps - which from the immediate viewpoint would be the sensible way to go!
Always make sure that the conditions state that MAcs will be available on wishing to leave. Never take legal action against an entity that may not be able to meet your legal costs

Net Services are not signed up to the voluntary code of practice, and are very poor at issuing Mac codes. Some people have had to wait 6+ months to get codes out of them.

The easiest way out of a net services connection, is to cancel the service (Without a MAC code). Unfortunalty that does mean you would be without internet for upto 14 days, as you have to reinstall from scratch, and you may be liable for a new setup fee, depending on which ISP you get to set you up again.

i think its ridiculas that we are tied in like this with mac codes
it should be like old dialup as in you cancel 1 provider and can signup right away with another with no downtime

You aren't. There's nothing stopping you ceasing the ADSL and moving on.

That would be a whole other world of hell.

if you look into the ISP before you subscribe you shouldnt need to change often enough to worry about how long it takes.

been told it takes 5 days with a MAC code and a couple of weeks without
