Faster Safari?

I don't know if it's my slow internet connection, or the late night but this doesn't seem overly faster than Safari 3.0.4.

I'll chalk it up to both

I just downloaded it and it seems a lot quicker, but unfortunately safari doesn't look right on wordpress etc (stuff missing) so I'm going to stick with firefox.

I thought that - tried WebKit and it definately seems faster than Safari. Especially when the webpage is already cached.

You dont, just download it and it has its own icon etc.

Seems very fast, although I never had a problem with Safari I will keep using this to see how reliable it is.

Benchmarking does but overall performance is the same, so it seems.

Safari 3.0.4 was already fast.

Just did a brief, unscientific test of the two browsers side by side loading the same pages. On flash/graphic heavy sites they both appeared to load at the same speed. On text-heavy sites the WebKit seems much faster, twice as fast by my count.

Since I've been using it it has crashed once, but still less than Safari so that alone is making me stick with it.

How do I stop it from opening the 'Thanks for using' site? Not set as my home page.

I think that is only when you first boot the app up. After that it returns to your homepage.
