Faster than light travel may not be possible in actual fact (maybe...)

To be honest all scientific theories need to be taken with a pinch of salt, including Einsteins general theory of relativity. If history has taught us anything thing it's that the theories we believe are leading edge science and the bedrock of everything will be laughed at by school children in 200 years time who will wonder how anyone could have been so naive.

I knew this was gona be about the Alcubierre drive as soon as I saw the title. Like people saying really, have to take the theories with a pinch of salt. I'm sure it'll be solved one day, pretty pointless existence without it imo

We must remember our theories are limited by current understanding and our anthropocentric viewpoint. It may well be possible, but not yet, and maybe not even by us until our conceptualisation of space and time has improved with new theories and perhaps even evolution of ourselves and our cognotive processes.

Or Star Trek.

I was pretty sure the scientific community had established years ago that it is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light. Even tachyons are only hypothetical.

Last time I looked at this the speed of light was a barrier that you can't cross though, anything that exists on either side could never get to the other, ie; tachyons if they exists could never travel slower than the speed of light (well, slightly above it).

And where does it say that what makes this guy qualified to be taken seriously:p ?

Sounds like a bunch of blokes in a pub after too many peroni's talking about Star Trek :D
