Hey,

What SD cards are people using in their phones? I'm looking for the "best" brand in terms of speed and reliability.

Sandisk Class 10 32GB cards with "up to 30MB/s read speed" seem widely available for ~£25.

Are they a good bet, or are there any quicker cards on the market?

Cheers,

Su

I have always used Sandisk in various devices.

Just be careful where you get them from as there are loads of fakes out there, buy from a reputable retailer.

SanDisk are by far and away the gold standard in SD cards. Why? Because everyone else tries to cut corners and not implement the SD specification properly.

If it helps, Sandisks are what networks use when they test handsets as they are reference grade - just don't buy on ebay.

SanDisk Extreme Pro are pretty much the nuts at the moment, but thier Ultra range is also better than Class 10 (they are both the new UHS standard).

I recently picked up a twin pack of Sandisk class 10 cards for my DSLR camera for £20. Two 16GB cards, the price was good considering it was instore.

Couldn't recommend them enough, fast speeds, and get just more than 30m/s when transferring pictures over.

Im just wondering if a 45mb read speed sandisk sdhc card will work on a 2 year old laptop. I would guess so but its not usb3 which I think kinda relates to the bus capacity for sdhc also, hopefully compatible anyhow

Lexar was the only other one I thought about

Assuming you mean full SD card sized here, 45MByte/s is outside USB 2 spec yes. This does not matter for comatibility reasons though, the devices slow down to the rate at which they are both happy.

The SanDisk Ultra 32GB card I bought in January just died :(

I was using it in my Motorola Razr HD - over the past few weeks I kept getting lots of "SD Card removed unexpectedly" errors, then all of a sudden, poof, it is not recognised any more. The card does not even work in a PC via an adapter (shows as 31MB capacity, and PC cannot format it).

SanDisk RMA process is horrendous

I've just ordered a Sony 16GB card for roughly the same price... not made in China like all the other crappy cards, so hopefully it won't kill itself :(

You didn't fancy this bad boy:
