Just built a new haswell 4770K system ready for BF4. Been waiting to see what the new AMD cards will do but now everything seems abit confusing.

So.. My question is. Out of the following cards, which is the fastest?

7970 x2 crossfire
GTX Titan
7990
R290X

Im currently running 1080p but will get 1440p when the prices come down. Im sliding towards the 7990 because from what i can see at that price its the fastest option.

7990 is the nicest solution and the fastest single card solution, they have no stutter issues any more. Only issue is coil/cap whine when benchmarking, though after a few days use this does calm down.

Outright performance, you can't beat a pair of Matrix 7970 Platinums in Crossfire.

Single GPU wise, Titan and R290X are similar performers, but they can't match the horsepower a 7990 has.

Really? I thought there were still problems on Eyefinity setups?
But I've not been following it so I'll take your word for it. Snuck that one in though, expected them to make more of a fuss about it, AMD-style.

Another question. The 7990 is a dual card, does it use the full 6 GB of ram or only 3?

I believe like all SLI and Crossfire setups it only uses half the total memory.

I game on single monitor with 7990, no issues, not tried eye-infinity so can't comment there but AMD have done a lot of work with recent drivers for Crossfire.

I wont be bothering with eyefinity, i do run 3 monitors but for gaming i use one, old skool lol. So Gibbo. Any offers if i order a 7990? :P like 10% off code :D Bought a lot from ocUK over the years.

We'll match anyone with stock who is cheaper. ;)

Oh wait were over £50 cheaper than our nearest competitor with stock. :D

In short no! :p

The competitor 7990 is a cheap no-brand version with slower clocks and crappy memory, isn't it?

Best I can find in stock elsewhere is the horrible poorly designed Powercolor card which is very noisy and £544.

OcUK destroys it's competitors on 7990!

Ah, I was thinking of a non-brand one with poor clocks that was £460 the last time I looked (but out of stock), it's now £538 and still out of stock :)

Like I say OcUK is the creator of these epic price reductions on GTX 680/670 series and HD 7900/7800 series, we seeked the deals whilst our competitors sat on their backsides. Then when we went to Market with such deals competitors tried to follow.

The cheapest in stock 7990 is £489 from a French Etailor who only give 1yr warranty on purchases and have a very poor reputation.

We have a Gigabyte with 3Yr warranty at £469 in stock, we now have the best customer service in the uk, we provide these forums free of charge and trust me the bandwidth is not cheap and staff man these forums 24/7, were proud to be no.1, were not always cheapest but at times we are. :)

@ OP, you asked which is the fastest, without any doubt 2x 7970's would destroy any current and upcoming single gpu's but I would personally go for a 7990 as there wouldn't be a massive difference between it and 2 separate 7970's, some do **** off dual cards but users are now saying stuttering has been sorted so not a problem any more, go for a 7990 now is my advise, paired with your 4770k it will be a BF4 killer and it's still under £500.

Grab one before they go £600-£700 after R290X release...

Absolute bargain. ;)

I would always fancy 2 single cards but that is my preference and not everyone's. As you are sliding to a 7990, I say slide all the way to the buy now button and get this beast. Great card and even better price and go for the Gigabyte for warranty reasons :)
