Fastest Graphics Card that doesn't need extra power?

My gf has an old PC that needs a better GFX card. I just need to know which is the most powerful/fastest that doesn't need extra power from the PSU?

+1 for the HD7750, although am pretty sure the HD7770 will also do the job with your
PSU, at almost the same price with much better performance (not a big difference in power), but you will need an adapter worth couple quid.

Personally, i think the 7770 is the better card for the money (7750 is £10-£20 cheaper)

Be careful of cards without external connectors. I had a cheap PSU and motherboard where it was fine with a HD4850 (1 6 pin power connector) but refused to boot citing a power issue with a 4670 (no power connectors).

I think it is the cheap PSU that should be careful of. Sounds to me your PSU wasn't providing stable enough power to the motherboard/PCI-E slot...

It was actually the motherboard, the motherboard slot did not supply enough power (it was an OEM one) to the card. Tried 3 different PSUs, the 4670 also worked in other motherboards with the same PSU.

I'm just saying be wary of OEM boards as they won't necessarily supply enough power to the PCI-E slot.

Sounds like something was faulty with the motherboard or card. Even the crappiest of mobos will still be PCI-E 1.0 compliant which will supply at least 75W through the slot.

Just throwing this out there but if your after the fastest without PSU PCIe power because the PSU doesnt have the connectors you can get molex to six pin adaptors and fit a kick ass card.

if its due to the PSU being short on watts just ignore me.
