Fastest HDD for around £40?

Whats the fastest HDD for roughly £40? not that bothered about size, aslong as it's over 250GB..

Is the Samsung F1 320GB any good? i know the higher capacity versions are fast...

Western Digital 250GB RE3 is fastest, £45 on ocuk, REMOVED. Samsung F1 320gb is very good also @ £36.

Speed:

WD RE3 250/320GB > Samsung F1 320GB > Seagate 320GB 7200.11 > WD 3200AAKS

I think the Samsung F1 320GB is pretty much the fastest and best for that price range. As it's single platter it's very fast and quiet.

The WD R3 range is single platter (well 320GB and under are) and seems faster, used a 320GB in a customers build 2 weeks ago.

Went for the F1 320GB then, great price with the free shipping. The WD 320GB is a little more than i wanted to pay.

for the price range its better yeah, but the WD RE3 250/320gb drives are faster, they are both 320gb platters, lower seek and faster read/write too. 11.7ms vs 13.6ms, 97.5mb/s vs 94mb/s. 5yr warranty too. But yeah £36 is great value for the samsung f1 cant deny that.
