Fastest learners in the North West! quite possibly?!?!

Whats the strangest learner car you've seen on the road?

Yesterday, whilst driving through Congleton (South Cheshire) I saw a Honda Civic Type R fully badged up as a learner car (with pupil). Surely this has got to be the best marketing tool ever for any instructer? I should imagine the waiting list for this guy must be huge as Im sure every 17 year old wants to be at the wheel of a 200bhp Type R? even if he were to charge a few pounds more per lesson. I have considered that this may just be the Type S with Type R badges and kit on... even so.
 
There was an instructor with one in area I use to live while I was learning...

I always thought insurance would be a bomb for the instructor??!

The other great marketing tool the instructor of the Civic Type-R had at her fingertips was the fact she was a rather attractive blond...
 
Aye, thinking about it this guys pupils really aren't going to be safe on Britains roads, once passed and they get in their 1.2 Corsas they're going to be overcome with the amount of torque they've now got at their disposal ;)
 
instuctor insurance is cheap my dad pays couple hundred quid he's had many cars 1 litre to 2 litre premium never increased

not a new idea tho my old man looked into starting his own driving school with a nova Gsi circa 17/18 years ago
 
thers a seat ibiza FR round my end, not quite as good but still a 'selling point' to get the learners.
 
CAn't remember the name of the driving school, something pocy, but in/around Brighton there was one that used BMW 3 series for it's fleet (woo).
 
i've seen a testarossa in germany..
in norway, germany and austria they love using BMW 1s and 3s..
i learnt in a megane diesel :(
 
I did my lessons in both a 306 Gti-6 and a 306 HDi. Was a Husband and wife thing. I was always waiting to see which car i would get for my next lesson. I actually liked the Hdi better as you couldn't ever go above 70 mph anyway. The Gti-6 just didn't like being driven normally plus the turning circle was a lot worse then the Hdi. They did pretty good from it because they sold up shop and now live in Spain :D.
 
A friend of mine learned to drive in his Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 back when he was 17, he still has the car to this day - and a few others now - (17 years later!)
 
Learner cars should be sheds, as that's what they will get as their first car. Well ok maybe a 355 is average for Alderly Edge :o
