Fat32 V ext3 which is faster?

My External hdd supports both fat32 & ext3 file-systems and I just wondered which was fastest at retrieving files?

transfer a gig file onto both filesystems and see which is faster!

File systems arent limited by the drive your using, you will be able to format it using ntfs. Windows wont work on a ext3 file system, ext3 is for linux.
