I over clocked my fx8120 to 4.03 ghz and ran a stress test using prime 95. The first six cores came through fine but core seven failed after 58 minutes and core 8 after 3 minutes both with fatal errors. I'm new to this so could someone explain to me why two cores failed and the others didn't and what I should do now. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have a CPU cooler
550 watt psu
And the voltages were stock.

BSOD meaning blue screen of death. (screen goes blue covered in white writing explaining the cause) Event viewer can be accessed by right clicking my computer and going manage. You would be looking for critical errors. (source would usually be Kernel-power for improper shut down)

When you mention cpu cooler, do you know if it is the ordinary one that came with the processor or something more significant? (if it's aftermarket, list what it is) Also do a google search for HWmonitor and use that to keep an eye on the temperatures, as it is critical you keep these as low as possible.

Worker threads failing can be an indication of not enough cpu voltage, try upping the vcore a few notches and test again.

Try running it a few times, if it's the same cores failing all of the time (#7 & #8) then chances are they are 'weaker' than the rest and probably need more voltage, if the cores which fail are random then it's most likely a power supply or motherboard voltage regulation issue, or it could be memory if you are overclocking that too.
