Fatal1ty interview

He's won more 1v1 tournaments than anyone else. Wow, so amazing. Can he work as part of a team though?

I still reckon FPS Doug would pwn him in CS:S anyday.

Lol, I haven't read the interview yet but I don't see why everyone is having a go at him/making fun of him etc. I'm sure a lot would love to be as good as him/make as much money as him, and if he's whoring it for the money then why not? After all the time and dedication he puts in.

And he was in the best US clan iirc so I'm sure his teamwork is upto scratch :p

oh fatal1ty thats the bloke from on the box of my X-fi Fatal1ty fps edition.

never knew what it meant befor, i thaught it was some one who was good at creating good sound cards :D

What I'd love to know is what his name brings to the plethora of soundcards, motherboards etc with his name all over..

Think it's sponsership. Like you know how cars have "go faster stripes", well if you have a "Fatal1ty" on your soundcard/motherboard/case you play better.

He h4x tbh.

I really hope you're not serious.

As for gaming becoming considered a "sport", I'm not sure about this one. Sport, imo, should be something that involves physical exercise... yet being sat on yer bum driving a car around a circuit is considered a motorsport, so I guess being sat on yer bum with headphones on whilst shouting into a mic and playing a FPS could be renamed as gaming-sport.

Even if it's not classified as a sport, I can imagine this becoming popular to watch on TV. Who would have imagined, 5 or 10 years ago, that people would be prepared to watch people play poker...? Yet today there are dedicated poker channels on satellite, and it's really, really taken off over the past 2 or 3 years. At least gaming is more interesting to watch than Devilfish playing cards against some internet noob poker player. There's a helluva lot of people that play video games these days... 100 million Playstation owners, even more PC owners, this is potentially a massive audience waiting to be tapped-in to.

I think it'll take the right sort of game for it to really hit public interest. Right now, the only people that really watch or follow any gaming tournament are people who actually play that game to a serious degree. To get a game that will appeal to the general public it needs to be simple enough for them to understand, but complex enough to actually interest the people playing it.

Typical that fatal1ty thinks that 1v1 games are the best though. Just because you have so much fun playing them, doesn't make them interesting enough to watch.

Also,
Streetrunner:The chosen 3 games for CGS are Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4), Project Gotham Racing (PGR) and Counter-Strike Source (CS:S). 2 XBOX 360 games and one PC game.
Stuff like this hurts gaming tournaments too. The people in charge are too interested in being swyaed by publisher's large pay packets and "help us promote our new game!" deals than they are in actually representing what people are playing. They need to just nut up and admit that online gaming (well, PC anyway) has yet to better the days of Quake3/UT, CS and Starcraft.

sheesh what a tool 1 vs. 1 in first person games sucks balls, what you need is a proper war, like 20 vs 20 or something, on another note i beat michael schumachers lap record in monaco GP on F1 championship (PS3) :p thats his real record by the way :)

Well I thought it was a very good and honest interview. I used to think Fatility was a weirdo, tool etc until this article - he even pointed out that sometimes he takes flak because of the way the media portrays him, which is very true. I wish him all the best in his ambitions, he is fighting for a noble goal after all - (competitive) video gaming in the mainstream.

I also think 1 on 1 FPS matches are the most personal and intense matches, you don't feel quite so pressured when you're in a team!

"FPS Doug" is a complete ****** made up in yet another effort to scam money out of the gullible and often retarded gaming community. As expected its worked quite well.

I don't like the guy, but at least Wendel has some skill.
Do you even know what Pure Pwnage is?

Yep. I think I sense some resentment. Travelling around the world, PC gaming for lots of money.

I'd gladly be labelled a geek if I could do that

hey im not knocking the guy at all and respect him for his achievements but at the end of the day arent we all geeks? You know youre a geek once you know how to build a pc and overclock :p
