Fathers Day.

Got a spa day for 2. The most odd and completely random present I have got.

It will "do m good" by all accounts.
 
A tub of homemade shortbread biscuits decorated badly from my daughter.

Bittersweet day as I haven't had any contact with my own father for almost 30 years, I don't even know if he is alive.
 
Then find out RDM so you don't say the same thing next year. Whatever went on in the past is in the past. I would suggest making an effort to see if things can be forgotten and have changed. And I say that after doing the same for a good many years. For some things haven't changed but you don't know if you don't find out. You're too good a person, from what I can tell, to find out too late and I am sure it just weigh on your mind a bit.
 
2 cards, 1 indicating that I am Darth Vadar and the boy is Luke. £15 Amazon voucher and a Facebook message from the girl. More than I've ever had before and it's appreciated but I've told them to save their money (I don't do Hallmark days).

Will call my dad later but like me, he doesn't like fuss on this sort of day.

I think about him from time to time, but in all honesty that ship has long sailed. I also wouldn't know where to start to be honest, when he left he didn't leave a forwarding address and I never heard from him again.

Life's recent events have caused me to be a little introspective of late so I have been thinking of the past and the way it shapes who you are now more than I probably should.

Try to be a better Father than he was and get on with your life.

Really missing my Dad today as it's my first fathers day since he passed away.

That's natural as you get older. I think we all tend to focus out thoughts on where most of our lifespan lies - when we are younger we look forward when we are older we look back.

As said above try just be a good dad and don't beat yourself up when you mess things up yourself.
 
I got a card from my almost-4 yr old daughter, the biggest cuddle I've had from her in a few months, and news from my wife that I'm getting two cards next year :)
 
My dad doesn't seem to understand the fact that I have a job, he asked me on Friday night if I wanted to join him for a meal and then got annoyed because I had to decline as I was working..
