fault in power socket

Acer Nitro 5 lap top. about year and half old.
i mostly use it on my lap whilst sat on a chair.
now whenever i move it the charge cuts off and on if its plugged in.
it seems like the connection is loose/faulty at the point where the power lead plugs in.
is this something i can fix myself?

If you have to ask the question, then nope. It sounds like the power connector on the laptop may now have a dry joint. The laptop covers will need removing and the connector re-soldering. Is this something you might want to have a go at, as there are teardown vids on youtube for your model of laptop.

Don't assume there's soldering involved, it may be a part you can replace cheaply. It could just plug into the motherboard - have a Google, see if there are YouTube videos or ideally an iFixit guide.

You would need exact model number
But a quick look suggests
It may be a plug in job no Soldering
For at least a few of acer nitro 5 models if not all
How easy it is to get to may be another question though
For dismantling laptops
I take photos and print them
Then as take screws out I tape them to the relevant place
In the photo
Since I find the biggest pain is all the different screw sizes

Usually ebay I get mine
Possibly even amazon nowadays
If its a popular laptop model especially if the parts used
Across multiple models it's not hard to get one
Will also be laptop part companies
Doubt you'll have to resort to China for that model

turns out it was the power lead thats faulty.
£41 for a glorified plug seems a bit expensive :eek:

It's worth the 41 quid not to
Have to disassemble and reassemble it though
Rather it be the power lead
Than the power connector/jack any day
