My 11 month old 40w2000 has developed an irritating little fault.

A black line going across the screen, on all inputs, about a quarter of the way down the screen, and about 1 pixel high.

It's quite visible from the sofa, depending on what colours are on the screen at the time.

I phoned the shop today, that I got it from, and they're going to send an engineer around tomorrow.

I'm not sure if this kind of fault can be repaired? Even if it can, with the TV being less than 12 months old, am I within my rights to ask for a replacement, rather than a repair?

The guy in the shop (who's a mate of mine) wasn't sure, and said I'd have to see what the engineer has to say. He said to push for it though, and that they don't have 40w2000s any more, and that if I did get a replacement, it should be a 40w3000.

I guess this can only be a good thing. I guess it won't be worse than the 40w2000. I know it does 24p.

I was just wondering if anybody who owns, or has seen a 40w2000 and a 40w3000 could comment?

I've been mostly delighted with the 40w2000. I do get some deinterlacing issues from my PVR, but other than that, it's been great.

As I say, I'm not sure what's going to happen yet. An engineer is booked to visit tomorrow, so I'll have to see what he says.

I'll attach a photo of what the line looks like

Anybody recognise this fault?
A friend of mine said it's quite common with TFT and laptop screens, and that banging the back can fix them!

I'm not going to settle for that on a still under guarantee TV, which cost me a small fortune at the time. I was just nervous at what they may replace it with. If they offer to swap the 40w2000 with the 40w3000 I guess I should be happy. I'm not sure if that's likely. I just hope it all gets sorted before the F1 qualifying on Saturday ;)

Thanks for any thoughts,

They'll probably just replace the panel rather than replace the TV.

That's what they do where I work with damaged screens.

that would be cool too.
Happy with that... so long as they do it quick ;)

EDIT: So long as newer panels don't have that clouding issue? Do the current TVs have the same panels?
