• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Faulty Core2duo

Absolutely no reason why it shouldn't be! It's not a call for a Jihad!

OCUK should realise these kind of comments and discussions are healthy and good for them in the long run, as long as it's kept civil. Happy customers = more customers = more money.

:)

To be honest I'd have thought given how long it's been here now and how many people have read it, it'd cause more fuss and customer upset to nuke it than the relatively moderate grumbles about RMAs it started with.

Lets face it, so far it's 2 or 3 posts about an RMA or two that weren't great and then pages of comments after one or two people posted the whole "if you post here you'll be suspended and the thread nuked" bit...

Still, good to see some discretion used by the mods rather than what would have appeared in the past to be some more heavy handed responses.

No they just said it posted and that was that.

Ive had an email back from them today saying

If you can send us a copy of Intel's test report confirming the fault and replacement then we will refund any charge incurred from us i.e. testing charge, shipping and return postage to us.

they should do more than that - you forked out extra money on mobo/psu/ram based on their test report... they owe you not only for their testing and postage fees but also for the extra parts you purchased due to their report!

That's no good

Hope I don't... just spent £900 with OCuk :o

That won't stop 'em. But they do seem to be very indulgent at the moment. Doubtless there will be a crackdown again at some point in the future. :(

It's amazing how quickly Gibbo or someone will answer questions on a subject when OCUK have started a thread pushing an "Offer of the week" or what have you, yet when all this thread needed at around about post number 2 or 3 was someone to put an official response on here, whether defending itself or offering to hear the OP's case in private, etc.

The thread could have been killed there and then perhaps.

It does appear more and more common for negative posts re: OCUK's poor RMA on occasion with faulty items being returned as working, only for the recipient to prove otherwise.

I have not had to RMA anything to OCUK, but purely as the result of such posts and no response from OCUK, I will only buy from OCUK as a very last resort when I can't get something elsewhere. It is a shame really.

And as for the censorship and suspensions....

No doubt. Also got a weeks suspension for a supposed 'YGM' post in the MM, lol. :)

yeah OCUK should treat us with much more respect in the forums and when there is a problem with things you bought from them. after all its people like us that made OCUK what it is.. ive been here with OCUK in the forums for years since the beginning of OCUK intact buying from them when they were a small business .. with small business ethics... sadly things have changed.. as as for the way the dons act its just silly... some of them are on a major power trip and in my humble opinion don't really do anything but cause trouble.

my two pence..

ITS ALL ABOUT THE CUSTOMER... after all we all know OCUK arnt the most competitively priced out there... hell i would happily pay a bit more on my stuff for truly excellent customer service

something to think about maybe?

It puzzles me when people are quite willing to accept things in this way without question. You clearly don't have any affiliation with them, yet you are quick to jump to their defence without question. It's behaviour I don't really understand, but that's just me. It's like in North Korea, where we see many people desperate to defect and risking their lives to get away, while others pledge their love for their Dear Leader and carry on living a life of hardship, just accepting the system the way it is. I'm not comparing you or OCUK to Kim Jong-il or North Korea, before you jump down my throat on that one, I'm simply drawing parallels in any form of human behaviour where we see a blinding acceptance of a system without question by certain groups of people. And I do acknowledge this is just an internet forum - it's obviously not a government or political system! Let's not get too carried away with this!

Myself and anyone else has a right to question their policy, even if our questions are promptly removed. They can delete posts, ban people and do whatever they please, but you can't stop people from thinking and posting such thoughts altogether. Of course, there's nothing illegal about OCUK's rules, they don't break human rights laws - it's all harmless really. It doesn't create a healthy forum in the long run though. As customers of OCUK, if people want to say something, they feel they should be able to talk freely without fear of censorship. That's all this comes down to. Many people just don't like to be silenced and told what to do. That's an impulse as old as time itself.

Of course, OCUK dictate the rules, as they have a right to, and I can't see anything changing here, but personally I think this forum would be a far more productive place and OCUK's reputation would be far greater if they relaxed their rules somewhat. What exactly are they worried about?

But hey, I'm just throwing this out there. That's my thinking. I am happy to carry on operating within the rules. It doesn't alter the fact that there is A LOT of very useful info in these forums and a lot of knowledgable members, but OCUK need to watch the way things are going. Change is not only inevitable but also necessary.

:)

Very good post imo, i won't say anything as i have been suspended two times in the past for voicing my opinion, i stay here because of the great threads and overall great community with a wealth of information i feel its a shame we are controlled so much all the time it could be so much better without the strict regulations any how nevermind ill leave it at that and be on my way :)
