Right, before I go absolutely ape at the morons at Dell India...

I had a M1330 that broke- it was replaced by another. This one has since succumbed to the same problems (dark lines on the screen, clicking hard drive, loose hinges etc). I requested a replacement / refund from Dell which they refused. I contacted my credit card company and they chased things up but couldnt do anything.

I since sent my laptop off for repair at Dell- they have returned it without ANYTHING being fixed. It's actually worse now because they have scratched it. I included a note detailing all the problems and was reassured on the phone numerous times that it would be fixed and would be "perfect". I requested a report of what would be changed but alas nothing was included in the box upon return.

I do not want this piece of junk anymore and do not want to talk to these retarded indian call center staff for hours on end yet again. The whole company is completely incompetant and I am seemingly trapped with this broken laptop.

If I phone them up today- seeing as I have given them a chance to repair (which they have failed spectacularly and it has also been replaced once before), can I now demand a refund? It's been months and months of this being broken and I seriously cannot take it anymore. I reckon i've totalled about 6 hours on the phone about this thing struggling to make the person understand basic english and have got absolutely nowhere. Is there an english / american based customer service dept I can call?:mad:

Now that they have had the chance to repair and replace the laptop- and it is still faulty, do I have a case for small claims? I do not want this anymore and would rather Dell just refund me, but this may be my only option?

Sounds like you're having a hell of a time.

XPS machines used to have their own dedicated American support line; part of the advertising bumf and therefore reason to choose a premium laptop over the others. I'm not sure if this still exists, but they might be able to sort it out for you.

Yep- i'm ready to do some serious harm to the next Dell employee I speak to!

I have used their American center before but I think they have actually got rid of it...

List of international numbers here matey:

http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...lcare/en/international_travel?c=uk&l=en&s=gen

Failing that, I'd write a letter and CC it to trading standards and their complaints department. Sent via recorded delivery, detail all the woes you've had and keep it professional and reiterate to them that if nothing is done then you'll be proceeding through Trading Standards.

Hopefully that'll make them sit up and take note, failing that... nuke orbit/ovaries etc..

I think the international support number for the UK just goes straight through to India anyway. :(

Would rather get this sorted quickly rather than through trading standards as i've already had to wait 3 months for Llloyds TSB credit card dept to give me an answer.

Righto-

I need to write a letter to the managing director of Dell UK. 10 points to anyone who can tell me who and where I should send the letter to in this case? :)

Pay the extra and send it via special delivery. Recorded delivery offers no guarantee that it will arrive, only that a signature will be obtained if/when it does arrive.

Only special gives you the guarantee it will reach the required destination and within 24 hours.

Funnily enough ive been having major probs with my XPS1210 that ive had for about 2 yrs now...the hd must have been replaced at least 4 times now:p. Before when i used to ring the dedicated XPS line...i spoke to the Irish guys and they were really good...i didnt mind having a good chat with them for a hr or so but now its all done through those muppets in India and my god they are useless.

At least the guys in Ireland knew what they were doing but this lot in India are just a bunch of script monkeys who dont understand the concept that i know whats wrong with my laptop...so just replace the damn parts...simple but yet so hard.
