My new GTX590 keeps crashing my machine, i have tried different drivers with no effect and confirmed its the GC by swapping in other GC i own.

I get apparently random blue screeens and lockups at standard clock in a variety of games and even just browsing, i can get maybe 15 mins on a clean reboot before another BSOD/lockup.

My GTX295 and 8800GT's and even 7900GTX cause no problems at all.

Is this def the GC and should I RMA? i notice there are no more in stock now.

Cheers

Yea...what PSU you got? Chances is that the PSU is not providing a stable enough power over the 12V rails.

Sure GTX590 has other issues, but don't think it is related to the problems you are having here...

nope

i think the dirvers i am on at moment are 272x? they are latest full release, i did try reverting to older ones, didnt make any difference.

The card has been run at standard clock and runs quite cool, maxxing at about 65-70 under load.

rma

Not having done an RMA before, what actualyl happens?

Do OC Uk refund me or do i have to wait for vendor diagnostics..??

Just wondering how long it will be before i get my cash back, or dont i get a choice and have to take replacement? after all the stuff in the news at the moment about these cards i am tending to think i'd rather buy something else from OC UK instead like sli 580's

Cheers

to properly answer the uestion on OC'ing: Nope, i saw the reviews about them blowing up and as standard performance is so strong i thought i'd simply buy another if i needed more oomph! have OC the i72600 though, what a beast!

OcUK will issue an RMA number for you to quote when returning the card.

If you're sure it's faulty tell them you are returning it under The Sale of Goods Act 1979 as not fit for purpose.

Tell them you want a full refund otherwise they will offer a repair or replacement.

I believe OcUK can take up to 30 days to issue a refund though it's usually quicker.

OcUK will test all goods returned as faulty.

Many thanks for that, RMA it is then i guess

We still need to confirm the PSU first, otherwise OCUK could find no fault, as it lies with the PSU (especially as none of your other tested GPUs pulls anywhere near as much as the GTX590).

psu

Ok apparently (as in someone just looked for me), its a corsair gold 1200w so better than i thought. Surely thats gonna be ok to run a 590GTX?

i'm also running

2x DDR3 ram
1x SSD drive
4x Normal HD's
1x Corsair H50 cooler
3x case fans
Intel Core I72600 OC to 4.8Ghz
MB is a Gigabyte Z68 UD5

If i need more than 1200w for that setup i guess i need to buy the GC a dedicated PSU (something i was thinking of for next build TBH)

more than enough mate, that is one of the best high power PSUs you can buy. You could run all your system and 2 590s out of that PSU easily.

THe only other remaining test you can do just to double check that the PSU is not broken is to try the 590 in another PC with a decent PSU (750W+)
