Faulty HDD?

Bought a whole new setup around 5-6 months ago and everything was working fine. About a month ago my Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA-II did something weird when i was coping a large amount of files from one sata connected HDD to my own the computer froze and the HDD just kept making a sound similar to a CD skipping; also the HDD activity led was solid, i just ended up reseting the machine and all files coped fine after; this did occour again when extrating a 4gb+ archive and installing a game; i thought it may have been vista playing up so i did a fresh install and the problem stayed away.

I decied to go RAID 0 last week and so i bought another Western Digital Caviar SE16 320GB SATA-II and set it up; it all went fine for about a day; i managed to copy all my data from my external HDD to to new RAID setup and no problems until yesterday when installing a game and it froze again with the same skipping sound with solid HDD activity led. After the reset the RAID config utility told me that the HDD connected to port 0 had an error (Error Occoured 0) I then decied to use the WD diagnostics utility; that told me that the cable is not connected and that it could not read or write to the HDD on port0. Finally after a few resets windows does not boot anymore i just get a blue screen error then it auto rests again. (BTW the HDD on port0 is the first one i bought)

Have i done something wrong in my setup or is it a faulty HDD; if it is how would i go about a replacement? WD or OCUK?

You could contact ocuk via their webnote system and request a RMA. They may tell you to contact WD but as its not a year old they shouldn't.

P.S your sig is too big. Forum rules state a maximum of 4 lines, or within a 400 x 75 pixel box.
