My mate gave me his pc to have a look at.
mOBO IS asus P5B-E

Every so often I kept getting 4 bleeps on post but no post screen, so I looked it up on the net and it said that was a graphics card fault warning.
I took a big risk and decided to put one of my graphic cards in and the pc booted up straight away but blue screened on windows.
I then took all of the memory out and put a stick of my memory in and booted up and it loaded up windows no problem then ran for a while then blue screened.
I then took my memory out and put the original memory back in (single stick at a time) and it wouldn't boot properly again.
Put my memory back in and booted ok but after a while blue screened.
I took my memory and graphics card out and put original memory and graphics back in and no good.
It looks like the graphics card and memory are kaput. A spike has killed them.
Mate tells me he has had TV and 2 Sky boxes die in his house even though they are all plugged into surge proctection sockets.
My question is...
Do you reckon the mobo is faulty now as he has ordered a new graphics card and memory to put in but I'm a bit worried that if I put them in and the mobo is kaput, will it blow them??
What would you do??

need more info, whats his gfx card? whats your gfx card? whats his memory? whats your memory? whats his psu? which version of windows? are all gfx drivers up to date? any heat issues/what temps are running?
