Faulty PSU?

It is only £9 more than the BeQuiet. You are getting a better psu in the bargain.

You're also getting more noise though

All look like very nice PSU's

I've head some corsair PSU's run fanless under 500W load :S

Yes a lot of the higher end units will have hybrid fan mode. Seasonic have the X series and platinum series which have this feature. The G series is a very good psu, and seeing as your system won't be pulling more than 400W or so it should be nice and quiet.

Taken form Hardocp review:

Load Testing Audio Impressions

The Seasonic G-550, like the X-560 we reviewed some time ago, has a large number of characteristics going for it that should allow it to be a quiet power supply. These things include excellent efficiency, an excellent fan controller, and so on. One area where these two units differ significantly is in the actual fan used as the X-560 had a high quality San Ace fan while this unit sports an ADDA fan. Overall though, even with the lower quality fan, this unit was rather quiet during testing. It took well into the Torture Test before the unit was adding to the noise profile of our load testing environment. Alternately, it never was apparent at full load unless I was behind the incubator. As such, this unit is likely going to be a good option for a quiet environment but perhaps not as good an option as the previous X-Series units that had better fans and have the fanless operation mode.

4 pins work off my motherboard better. It's got really good fan controller software built in.

The gasket is to put on my existing heatsink to try reduce the fan vibration noise :p

Haven't fully decided on the case yet... Sadly my current case can't really fit a top rad as there is little to no room between the motherboard and top vents... Looking to add a water cooler in the summer.

Maybe the 750D? A better choice IMO but I know loads would prefer the 540, both awesome cases

The 750D does look good, but it looks fairly big. The 540 would fit in the corner of my desk better.

The other option I have, is keep my current case, install a 240mm rad in the front of the case behind the intake fans, then have 1 x 120mm rear exhaust and 2 x 140mm top exhaust. Then maybe ghetto mod my own window into the side panel.. What you think?

eeek ordered one of these Corsair PSU's for a new build , after reading the negativity here around corsair psu's have i made a boo boo in ordering it ??

The builder series are pretty decent psu's for the money. The Superflower above would get my vote as well, although they are not due until 28/2. If you don't want to spend a fortune, or can't wait for the Superflower then I would stick with the Corsair.

The superflower aren't brilliant either I believe, they aren't made by SuperFlower but some other company, so the reviews aren't all great either. Only the 1000W+ are made by SuperFlower themselves (I think.) However, I have the CX600 and it's worked just fine for me.
