Faulty RAM

Hi all.

Just after a bit of advice. I have identified one of my sticks of ram as being faulty, when the ram was installed my PC was having frequent BSOD errors and crashes, since it has been removed my PC has been running fine no problems.

The ram is Kingston Hyperx Beast ddr 3 HX321C11T3K2/16 - 8gb x2.

The problem I have is that Kingston are saying to get a replacement or refund I have to send both sticks back, thus rendering my PC useless in the meantime. Anyone know how long the return process takes? I am thinking I could buy some used ram on ebay in the meantime until it gets replaced if it's going to take weeks.

Thanks in advance

Yeah it's normal for retailers and companies to ask you to send the whole kit back, unfortunately.

Can explain that your PC will be useless as you have no spare RAM, and get a guarantee from them about that refund offer. If they say yes no problem, then you can buy new (or used if you prefer) RAM, and send the faulty kit back when the new kit arrives.

Can also just buy used RAM for the meantime and choose replacement instead.

Legally, they have about 28 working days to provide a solution. How fast Kingston usually are, I cannot say.

Thanks. I think I'll just buy some ram off Ebay for the time being so I can at least still use the PC. Literally only just brought a new Acer Predator monitor and loving it and then the PC dies on me lol

I would go the same way as you, and order cheaper memory just as emergency solution. If they were 100% towards a full refund, I would order the ram you really want.
