Faulty XFX R9 280X DD Help

Hi,

My friend was having problems with his computer freezing and then it just stopped powering all together today. I took it all apart and started from scratch. The PSU was confirmed to be ok and as I put components back it I realised that it stopped powering up when the XFX R9 280X DD card was placed in it.

To check if it was the card or the slot that was faulty I tried putting in my HD 7870 and it powered fine.

From this I am assuming the graphics card is faulty.....

It was purchased 26th July 2014 so I was wondering :

1) What are the warranty's for this graphics card? I checked their website but it is only telling me for US/Canada.

2) Is there anything I can do to the graphics card to try getting it to work again?

Ok a bit more of an update...

I decided to test his graphics card in my computer just to confirm it was a dead GFX card and shock shock it worked fine in mine.

So that either means it is his PSU connections to the graphics card or the PSU itself that is at fault.

Its been working fine all this time, is a 550W enough power (the one in mine I tested was a corsair gaming gs600w)

I'll put money on the PSU. Probably no longer able to power the 280X.

That's what I'm starting to think. What I'm going to try tonight is his computer with his psu and my graphics card.

That would narrow it down to the extra 2 pins u attach onto his gpu where as mine is only 3+3.

I seen the evga 600w for £35. Is that decent?

Superflower is a good PSU brand and 550W should be fine for that setup.

It should be RMA'd.

What warranty does superflower give you? Do I rma it through overclockers?

Ok more of an update (and a weird outcome)

I started putting his computer back together bit by bit and for some reason it is powering up fine now. It boots into windows and seems to be ok. The only downside is it feels a little slow at the startup which I am thinking is due to his hard drive failing (will run tests on it).. but other than that the PSU/GPU seems fine now...
