fav band/artist

Favourite band: Dream Theater. Will definately not be to everyone's taste, but their technicality is used correctly to express their creative visions, they're not a 'show off' band as some people think.

Artist: Joe Satriani, the reason I got seriously into guitar again and is a fantastic all-round guitarist who can play in any style convincinly.

My favourite band is Porcupine Tree, and my favourite artist is Steven Wilson.

Woweeee! I love porcupine tree. Fantastic albums and they always strive to sound different. Steve Wilson's lyrics are also fantastic too.

I'm really loving Deadwing atm.

As with many others, I go through phases but the bands/artists I never move far away from are:

The Who
The Rolling Stones
Deep Purple
The Jam
Stiff Little Fingers
Gerry Rafferty
and last but by no means least, Johnny Cash.

Stan :)

Someone else with good taste :) Have you listened to any of Steven's (numerous) side projects?

Deadwing absolutely rocks, it was my favourite album of 2005. I still can't get enough of the suitar solo in 'Arriving Somewhere But Not Here' which sounded excellent when I saw the band live.

Bruce Springsteen (& The E Street Band)

The Hammersmith Odeon gig (london 1975) is out on CD on the 27th! The DVD on the BTR 20th Anniv. edition is amazing, now I will be able to listen in my car too! \m/

Billy Bragg! Brilliant.
Bad Religion, Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake are also favourites of mine.
Oh, and I don't think The Starting Line ever wrote a bad song...

Arctic Monkeys, the only band where basically everyone i've been able to compare it to something i've done, the wity wry lyrics of Alex Turner are just amazing.

It always be Led Zeppelin for me. Nearly 30 years since the band ended and the music still sounds great. Great albums and absolute monsters playing live. They've been a massive influence on rock music and were also innovaters in the noble sport of fishing!

Currently?

Sigur Ros and The Mars Volta, although they've been my favourites for quite a while. Isis are fantastic, as are Mogwai.

At the moment, I have Lydia - This December; It's One More and I'm Free on constant loop. So at this very moment they are probably my favourite artist.
