Its a loophole in the law they are exploiting. Its nice to hear from a non football fan that they can see sense in all this as well, cheers AH2, have you forwarded the petition link onto any of your friends.
We hit 10,000 sigs this afternoon, plus the 7,000 paper sigs we have, which is pretty darn good. If we can get another 200 people to sign the online one, it will be the biggest petition in the councils history.
because we haven't got one, we lose a lot of entertainment to places like Cardiff, or skip us out and go straight to Plymouth. As well as the world cup bid and the money that will bring in.
It'll bring a lot of investment and money to the city and is something a city the size of Bristol should have as a default.
We (Brighton & Hove Albion) have been without our own stadium since 1997!
Two years at Gillingham and the rest at a council athletics track!
Thanks to the fans never giving up, after going through two public enquiries, we finally move into our £93 million pound stadium next year for the start of the 2011/2012 season, thanks entirely to an interest free loan from our chairman to the club.
We have even got American Express buying the naming rights!
after watching that programme on tv (dispatches i think it was), the amount of racists and chav's in bristol is shocking, dont get me wrong there was 1 good samaritan in the whole show too who helped the asian women when she was being attacked by a chav, so im not tarring all of them but the majority were, maybe it was that specific area of bristol because it looked like a dump but for that reason, im out.
We're trying to show its a national issue because of the world cup, and the possibility of an arena which will draw in national talents. We had Norwich fans signing it in their droves at the last home game because they said how great it would be to come to a stadium that isn't outdated and in need of major upgrades.
Also pretty much every local sports club, apart from r*vers have now signed up to back us, and asked their fans to as well. They didn't want in on the world cup when City asked them to make it a joint bid, which just shows how bitter and twisted they are if they can't see the bigger picture for the city as a whole.
(and for what its worth i'd support r*vers in any new bid to get their new ground sorted)
