Since the release of MGS4, I've decided that is the best game this Gen

There are 3 consoles this Generation

The Xbox 360
The Playstation 3
The Nintendo Wii

All have seen some fantastic games.

Now I was just wondering what peoples favourite game is from this generation.

That's 1 game, No cheating and naming 2 games, if there are a few games you love, weigh them up and discard a few until you do come up with your single favourite.

I'm going to find it difficult, as I love quite a few games.

Grand Theft Auto 4, Mass Effect, Gears of War and COD4.

It's between those for me, and I'm having trouble narrowing them down.

I'll remove Mass Effect from the list, because during this generation Multiplayer gaming has become very important to me, and mass effect hasn't got a multiplayer option (For obvious reasons)

I'm going to drop Grand theft auto 4 too, Controversial I know. I'm just not feeling
the magic everyone else is. It's great! Don't get me wrong but definitely not Number 1 material for me.

Gears of War or COD4...

Wow, These are hard to separate. Both have fantastic online mode, both have fantastic single player mode, both have beautiful graphics and game play.

I've decided

Call of Duty 4 was my favourite game this generation. I actually believe I may have given COD4 the edge because of the controls. Gears of War, although great, I sometimes felt the controls to be none-fluid, and overly complicated in overwhelming situations.

Where as once you are used to the controls in call of Duty 4, you are as immersed as you're going to get.

Test Drive Unlimited is probably the most enjoyable current gen game I've played in the last couple of years, loved it.

Call of Duty 4 was great fun.
Mario Galaxy plays beautifully, such good level design.
Metroid Prime 3 was just awesome.

I'll say Metroid Prime 3. Don't think I've ever felt more in control.

[EDIT: I'm changing to Galaxy. The more I think about it, the better I think it was. I want to go home and play it now!]

Uncharted

I just loved it, the characters were lovable, the storyline was so utterly Indiana, the graphics were lush, the game play was repetitive i admit, but it was so fluid and fun i just didn't care.

Can't wait for the sequel.

Mate this is a horrible question, so many good ones

Personal Favorites for me would be Uncharted, The Darkness, Metal Gear Online Beta (Yes I know its a Beta but I Love it!), Rainbow Six Vegas 1/2, Call of Duty 4 and Grand Theft Auto 4.

If I had to pick just one it would 'probably' be Call of Duty 4, though ask me again when MGS4/MGO Final is out and I've finished GTA4.

Unfortunately I havent got to play GTA properly yet due to holding off till after exams, if they fix the issues im sure it will be the top game on most peoples list. For my choice im going a bit off the track.....Saint's Row! The multiplayer was absolutely immense, had so many class times with mates online blowing stuff up. It was unfortunately plagued by issues of lag etc but with everyone online at release it was totally awesome!

I have a fair few comprised of the usual suspects; Mass Effect, Bioshock, Mario Galaxy, Guitar Hero etc. In fact I'm sure in a similar thread (although that was games of last year not the generation) I said Mario Galaxy but...

I'll say skate. The level of satisfaction i got from that game is unparalled(sp?). Pulling of a line you had been practicsing for sometimes hours was a great feeling and I honestly felt that the control system was superb and in many ways completely natural.

It would be between COD4, Crackdown and GTAIV for me. I played COD4 on PC though so I guess it doesn't count - Crackdown was awesome too and was right up my alley (oo-er mrs!) gameplay wise although it lacked a little in depth so GTAIV it is.

Could R* have got the gfx looking better with more tweaking - most probably, but it being the first of the new gen of GTA games I anticipate big improvements for the next one as I'm sure R* have learn't a lot on how to impliment the new games engines on the new hardware etc. Could they have improved the multiplayer - most definately, but this is their first real attempt so no doubt it will get better.

I don't know why - but saying GTAIV is my number 1 seems like a cop out as it's so predictable.... I just love it though :D

My number one game would be Mario Galaxy, perfect example of a perfect game, fun for all ages, totally enjoyable.

For 1st person shooter it would be COD4 for a good but short single player game with an unrivalled online expericence.

Driving game would go to Test Drive Unlimited and PGR4/3 and Motorstorm and of course Burnout Revenge (even though this was just a tarted up xbox/ps2 conversion). Difficult to choose a ultimate - notice no sim games also as i really don't think a perfect sim game has been released yet- for me even Forza2 could be completed and played just like an arcade game

and for open ended GTA style game would go to Crackdown and Saints Row, far, far better games than GTAIV itself.

For adventure games it would be Uncharted

and of course not forgetting
R6V2
Kameo
Ghost recon advanced warfighter
Everybody's golf
Guitar hero

these would be my 5 top recommendations

Mario Galaxy by a country mile.

How GTA scored higher with most reviewers is beyond belief :-/

Tiger Woods 08 on the 360 Manbox :D

This game has taken me into a new world of chilled gaming, Settled in my fave arm chair with my wireless controller playing 18 is sublime. You really feel the skill involved in a decent shot & get a proper buzz from playing well.
The game is Perfect.

GTA4 for me probably, but I'd say come back and ask me on the 12th June ;)

For sheer amount of time played though (both online and locally with mates) it'd have to be FIFA08.

Fifa 08 is my most played game and I'd say its one of my Favs along with Mass Effect and GTA IV.

Edit: GOW as well, it was gung-ho with a pretty poor storyline but my god was it stylish in its execution.
