Favourite game this generation?

probably gears of war so far. Theres a long way to go before this current gen is over though

this may change as soon as i play the likes of gta4 or mgs4 :p

Guitar Hero.

Having never played the genre before when GH2 came out and I saw the threads I thought what a bunch of homosexuals. Pretending to play a plastic guitar.

At xmas this year someone convinced me to give it a try.

I love the game and I should get commision for the number of people who have taken the game up after trying mine.

Surprised at some of the answers in this thread...

For me is it the one and only Smackdown v Raw 2007 on the 360, with GTA IV coming in close. Smackdown's varied modes, numerous fighters and sheer randomness of the fights just does it for me. I have yet to play any title as much as SvR 2007.

I've yet to finish GTAIV so I won't really come up with a conclusion on that. Gears remains one of the best titles if it wasn't so short. Superb storyline and fmw footage though.

Played through most of the big titles on all platforms, and the clear winner for me was Unchartered on the PS3. Loved everything about it, graphics, story, controls, nothing came close awesome game.

Uncharted :)

Call of Duty 4. By a country mile. I think this one was ALL about the MP, with the SP side of things a nice addition! Everything about it is just so good - graphics, sounds, controls. Spot on. I've played it more than any other and have become pretty adept at it!

Still not bored of it.

I also thought the SP was very, very nicely done. Some great touches and setpieces and generally head and shoulders above others in the same genre.

I don't own a PS3 or Wii so my options are more limited than others.

PS PES2008 for fun factor with a mate and booze.

The Darkness.

Couldn't care less that average review scores are around the 80 % mark.

Everything about the game appeals to me so much - the story (a mix of gangsters & horror), the characters, Mike Pattons brilliant voice, so much detail put into the whole package.

'Adult' gaming at its best :)

im splitting this into genre as I buy far too many games and have played more this generation due to owning all nonhandheld platforms [previous gens i always had a PC and one of the consoles]

SPORTS

skate - just because of the inventive controls and game layout

could do with a bit less 'radical skater' stereotypes in - but apart from that its my fave

----------------------------
RACING

Burnout Paradise - because there is very little wrong with this and its more fun that the serious racers

----------------------------

Action

Dead Rising - i cant remember a game i have spent longer on really

should mention GTA IV [dont really need to explain why] but i havent completed it so im not including it

----------------------------

FPS

R6VEGAS - only because it held my attention longer than COD4
but its really too close to call in my book

i want to include portal in this but i have only played it on my PC - however, i think it deserves a mention

----------------------------

opinions for biggest let down of this gen

HALO3
Need For Speed Pro Street
PGR
