Favourite game this generation?

MGS4 is the best game this generation, it's easily the best game of all time, tearing into the space time continuum in it's awesomeness. It is untouchable and made by a god.

(Until the next best game comes along, of course).

Disclaimer:
I'm kidding, I'm kidding! I'm sure it's a fantastic experience. I just can't help but take the mickey when I read some of these posts :)

I can see where you're coming from, i'm extremely dubious about whether i do actually feel as strongly about the game as i THINK i do now. It's been a long time since i've had 'that feeling' when playing a game, you know the one i mean, but i'm just unsure whether its because it was THAT good. I'm going to hang back on the 'best game ever' declarations for at least 6 month, by then the new toy syndrome will have worn off and i'll have a better idea of how good the game actually is.

I know its the best game i've played this generation though.

Favourite game is a tough one, going by how many hours I've put into the game it would have to be Lost Odyssey, but the game I've most enjoyed playing would probably be Ninja Gaiden 2 - decapitating the enemy puts it over the edge for me :D

I'll go with Skate, it takes a lot to create a unique game in this day and age but EA (yes EA!) managed to do it. The fantastic control system made this game brilliant to just pick up and play, you could play it for 10 minutes or 10 hours and you're guaranteed to have some fun. I couldn't put it down until I had done every challenge and mastered every trick, there was something about the way it was made which made it very addictive. I simply cannot wait for the second one.

In a few days time my opinion might change as I've just ordered a PS3 and MGS4, I found a bargain on eBay - £210 for the PS3 inluding delivery + GTA IV and Assasins Creed :D.

I've played MGS4 so far and it's okay. Not really too gripping, sent the rental back, gonna buy it today though.

Gonna start it again, hopefully it will grip me a little more when my eyes aren't irritated.

SP - Fight Night 3 (first next gen game I bought, and still the only old game I go back to)
MP - COD4 (just a bloody great game all round really, MP is epic)

Playing through MGS4 now, on act 4, the story telling and cut scenes are just stunning, the gameplay is amazing in places, but only OK in others, so I don't think it should be top spot IMO. STill a great game though.

so far mgs4, but thats cause I'm a mgs fanboi :p

Although now i feel sad that there won't be another one :(

Kojima has said there will be more, but not about Solid Snake anymore. Also, in one of the cutscenes of the game, there's a small part where it shows all the games in a gallery in chronological order, and the slot where MGS5 and MGS6 are says 'under construction'.

Call of Duty 4 has to be my choice. MGS 4 is great, but needs to be out a bit longer to really show its class. GTA 4 is ok, but inevitably disappointing given the massive hype and huge scores it was given.

For me my favourite game would be MGS4, i have had so much fun playing it. It is closely followed by Test Drive Unlimited, i know it seems a bit odd saying closely followed, but i really enjoyed TDU.

I'm trying hard not to say MGS4 is the best game within the past three years, but I am actually struggling for alternatives. My favourite games in the past few years are (no order): MGS4, Oblivion, Company of Heroes, Crysis, Age of Empires 3 and Medieval II Total War (yeah I probably should take my *** back to the PC forum).

The problem with naming MGS4 game of this gen for me is that the more I think about it, the worse it seems - but then when I play it again I realise how absolutely amazing it is.
