Favourite Led Zeppelin Song?

Git! Git! Git! :p Didn't you also see Queen live once?

Once?
I saw them supporting Mott The Hoople in 72/73.
Saw them on their first proper tour which was Sheer Heart Attack.
Bingley Hall Stafford
and
Milton Keynes.

And just for those that are interested and keeping on topic -
I can still remember the front page of SOUNDS in the early 70's saying "Queen, are they the new Led Zeppelin?".

Edits post to read "at least once?". ;) So 4 times for Queen as well? Git! :p

No fair. Would have loved to have seen Queen/Led Zep/The Who live in their prime. Ah well.

Btw Queen at Milton Keynes? That in 82?

My Zep 2 vinyl album actually shows the title of the Lemon Song as Killing Floor on the label of the disk.

Did I ever mention I saw Zeppelin live 4 times :D

There are times when I quite like you...this isn't one of those times! :p

You must have one of the earliest pressings of LZII then. It's not actually worth an awful lot though, because they sold so many of them. (Somewhere in the region of 20 million I believe. It makes me chuckle when I see someone like Robbie Williams get lauded for his album sales when he's probably sold less then 10% of the number that Zeppelin sold.)

On an interesting side note, the Zeppelin Albums on Vinyl were such high quality because upon visiting the manufacturers, Peter Grant noticed that there were two vats of acid that records were dipped into. One was for Pop and Rock records where they changed the acid once every 6 weeks, one was for classical music where they changed the acid every few days. Grant had a polite (or not so, if his reputation was anything to by) word in the foreman's ear and from then, Zeppelins records went in the Classical vat.

My Zep 3 has got the twirly wheel in it and in one of the albums was a limited edition sticker of 5000. You sent it off and got a free single. Perhaps you could track that down for me (somethings shouting Trampled Underfoot at me). I've still got all my Zep singles in the attic (all imports obviously). The Clash also did the same thing with Capitol Radio single.

With and without? Keith Moon you mean?

That the one released on DVD? Live At The Bowl? What was the atmosphere like?

Yeah

Unbelievable. I bought Live At The Bowl when it came out but never watched it. Just got it down and realised it was Milton Keynes - what a ****head I am :D All Queen gigs were a great atmosphere because you knew you were going to be entertained by the greatest frontman ever (even though Hot Space was the worst album ever). Anybody do the homework and tell me who was supporting that day? I can't remember.

I've got the III (OR should I say I've borrowed my dad's copy and he hasn't noticed) with the twirly wheel and also has 'Do What Thou Wilt/So Mote it be' etched in the run out track by Jimmy Page. If the sleeve was in better cop it'd be worth a fair penny.

I wonder If I'll be able to brag to the next generation of the bands that I've seen live. I've seen Razorlight four times just doesn't have the same ring to it though! (Good gigs though, plus they've got a rather fit female following!)

A couple of months ago two workmates were telling me about when they went to see Hendrix, Cream, Taste etc in the early days. One of them was on holiday in Plymouth and walked straight into one of the very first concerts by Zeppelin. I was ready to kill them when another workmate said he saw The Beatles live around 65.

o man they have done so many good songs, but my fav album has to be the physical graffiti one...

Babe I'm gonna leave you is the only one I can play on the guitar.

I can play that on the guitar too, great song :D

My favourite? I couldn't say. Since I've Been Loving You, When the Levee Breaks, Misty Mountain Hop, Ramble On, The Ocean... It's harder to think of one that isn't as good!

Those are the sort of experiences I'll never get to have. Don't get me wrong, I think there's some great bands today but they're just not on the same scale.
