Favourite lyrics!

OCS :D The band responsible for my upbringing in music... Was the first album I ever bought, I was 8 or 9 at the time and totally in love with their music! I love the lyrics to the day we caught the train and I used to listen to it when I was heading down to my girlfriends house in Brighton on the train :D Anyway the lyrics:

I never saw it as the start its more a change of heart
Rapping on the windows, whistling down the chimney pot
Blowing off the dust in the room where I forgot I laid my plans in solid rock

Stepping through the door like a troubadour whiling just an hour away
Looking at the trees on the roadside feeling its a holiday.
You and I should ride the coast and wind up in our favourite coats just miles away.

Roll a number, write another song like
Jimmy heard the day he caught the train.

He sipped another rum and coke and told a dirty joke
Walking like Groucho sucking on a number 10
Rolling on the floor with the cigarette burns walked in
I'll miss the crush and I'm home again.
Stepping through the door with the night in store whiling just an hour away,
step into the sky in the starbright feeling its a brighter day.

You and I should ride the tracks and find ourselves just wading through tomorrow
and you and I when we're coming down we're only getting back
and you know I feel no sorrow.

When you find that things are getting wild don't you want days like these.
When you find that things are getting wild don't you need days like these

After all these implements and text designed by intellects
So vexed to find evidently there's just so much that hides
And though the saints of us divine in ancient feeding lines
Their sentiment is just as hard to pluck from the vine

I'm trying hard not to pretend
Allow myself no mock defence
Step into the night

Since I dont have the time nor mind to figure out
The nursery rhymes that helped us out and make a sense of our lives
The cruel uneventful state of apathy releases me
I value them but I won't cry if the time was wiped out

I'm trying hard not to give in
Battened down to fair the wind
Read my head, at least pretend
Allow myself no mock defence
Step into the night...

Mercy's eyes are blue
When she places them in front of you
Nothing holds a roman candle to
The solemn warmth you feel inside

There's no measuring of it
As nothing else is love

I'll try hard not to give in
Battened down to fair the wind
Read my head, at least pretend
Allow myself no mock defence
Step into the night...

Mercy's eyes are blue
When she places them in front of you
Nothing really holds a candle to
The solemn warmth you feel inside of you

Very karaoke-unfriendly, and brilliant.

Sean Paul is great - don't be hating.

More lyrics:

David Ford - State Of the Union

Sweet dreams all met with derision
This train, it was armed for collision
It's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame

Clap your hands in the sparkle and glitter
Shake your heads at the twisted and bitter
Oh they don't know how lucky they are

Foot down for the alienation
Look on as your love, its gets lost in translation
To a language that nobody understands

There are smiles as they erode and corrupt you
Of the great expectations you could never live up to
We are lost, we are lost, we are lost

Get your coat, 'cos the righteous are leaving
'Cos they can't work out what the hell to believe in
It's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame

No abandon, no heartfelt desire
No love could be worth getting fired
For real, it's surreal, it's so real

So paint over the cracks and then cover
What you thought was the worst ever pain with another
And the first one, it always comes free

How they love you so cold and so vicious
With friends like these, well who needs politicians
The first one, its always comes free
They tell you heroin takes like ice cream

Clever men know all that and all this
And they will talk and they talk and the don't ****ing listen
It's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame

It's no life but God, it's a living
Come on Jesus Christ, come back all is forgiven
We are lost, we are lost, we are lost

Have no fear of the state of the nation
Let the facts have no bearing on public relations
It's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame

What a model of Christian behaviour
Preach on with the message of "go **** thy neighbour"
it's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame
it's a shame, it's a shame

Watch your step by the crowd of fanatics
While they kill in the name of applied mathematics
Hate the system even though you invented it
Go kill your brothers and claim self defence of it
Picking up all the secrets and tricks to being
One of the guys whom the **** never sticks to
Take you seats for the final calamity
Don't you look serious, hell, what can the matter be?
Another day and the rot's getting faster
And all the machines started killing the master

it's a shame, it's a shame, it's a shame
it's a shame, it's a shame

Snoop feat. Lil Jon - Step Yo Game Up

Now turn around *****, put that ass on a *****, grind on his **** make it get a little bigger

I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold
I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse TV evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity

I believe in Karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love 'til you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

If I should die this very moment
I shouldn't fear
for I have never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you
Still my heart this moment
Or it might burst

Could we stay right here
Until the end of time
Until the eart stops turning
Want to love you until the seas run dry

Million Dead - Breaking the Back

And i don’t mean to seem at all ungrateful, but the air-conditioned life has left me gasping for some real conversation. and just because, turing couldn’t possibly conceive a machine with this little personality, i’m working shifts in veal-fattening pens, and yet i’m puppy thin because to tell the truth i was hanging on for something more than distant dial tones and a sense of ending.

Alkaline Trio - Private Eye

New Year's Eve was as boring as heaven
I watched flies **** on channel 11
There was no one to kiss, there was nothing to drink
Except some old rotten milk someone left in the sink
And there's no ring, there's no ring on the phone anymore
There's no reason to call I passed out on the floor
Smoked myself stupid and drank my insides raisin dry

Boys Night Out - The First Time it Should'nt Taste Like Blood

Hey honey hold my hand and hope for heaven
because I just cant help myself
even angels end up burned and buried in my backyard
and you, you're just like everyone else.

Ahh love that song, some awesome lyrics. And there was me thinking your taste in music was misguided, seems I got you all wrong

Been into him since the Easyworld days; nowhere near as big a fan as my girlfriend and her mum are though...

Only seen him twice solo.

Million Dead
:D

It's just a song, just another generic mid-paced foot-tapper, just a conservative assembly of melody and basic rhythmn.
Four-on-the-floor, a key change as a curve-ball for the unititiated.
I'm well aware it won't change a thing, but ever the kantian, I won't be discouraged by the apparent chasm between means and ends.

Tool - Stinkfist

"Something has to change
Undeniable dilemma
Boredom's not a burden
Anyone should bear

Constant over stimulation numbs me
But I would not want you any other way

It's not enough
I need more
Nothing seems to satisfy
I don't want it
I just need it
To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive

Finger deep within the borderline
Show me that you love me and that we belong together
Relax, turn around and take my hand

I can help you change
Tired moments into pleasure
Say the word and we'll be
Well upon our way

Blend and balance
Pain and comfort
Deep within you
'til you will not want me any other way

It's not enough
I need more
Nothing seems to satisfy
I don't want it
I just need it
To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive

Knuckle deep inside the borderline
This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to
Relax, slip away

Something kinda sad about
the way that things have come to be
Desensitized to everything
What became of subtlety?

How can it mean anything to me
If I really don't feel anything at all?

I'll keep digging 'til
I feel something

Elbow deep inside the borderline
Show me that you love me and that we belong together
Shoulder deep within the borderline
Relax, turn around and take my hand "

I love the intro of this song by Heather Nova

Artist: Heather nova
Song: Avalanche
Album: Siren

I lie in a field, in the trailer-park of my dreams
Saving up for someday.
But what does someday mean?
And I'm young but I let it stip on by
I'm co-dependent and I'm lost inside
And you, you look like freedom
You look like the avalanche I need
The avalanche I need

all of them really. Every album grows on you so much. 'Humpty Dumpty' and 'High on Sunday 51' off lost in space, 'how am I different' and 'deathly' off 'bachelor number 2', 'thats just what you are' off I'm with stupid and 'stupid thing' off 'whatever' are particular faves of mine. The forgotten arm is a good album too, but i can't say any particular songs jump out at me yet like the others do. High on sunday 51 is even one of my drunk songs, that I tend to sing drunkenly staggering home after a night out.

I have 3 Aimee Mann Albums, actually I thought you mean the song Say Anything by her!

I think her best album is her Magnolia Soundtrack.

Easyworld - A Stain to Never Fade

But I want to be your adrenaline
The redness across your chest
Oh lover I confess

Though you'll always be to me
A stain to never fade
I'd do it all again
