I would suggest Cisco for home as well as work the only problem being that idealy you need to be familiar with the IOS command set although you can use SDM and also there price which for a standard Cable/Adsl router is three times that of a standard consumer product, but then again you get three times the functionality, performance and quality.

Then again ive just bought a Cisco 871 so ill shut up now....

:o

I voted Cisco but use a Linksys router at home and love it. :D I've had some bad experience with Netgear in the past.

Yep and even the little things are massively useful.

Case in point, some friends wanted to join a server for a game i was running. We couldnt find any good information on the ports it uses because developers of games dont seem to understand the concepts behind them.

Simply created two rules to allow full ip from both of them with a "log" statement at the end. Got both of them to connect, checked the logs, full list of the ports used :)

Its the little things like the above that make a difference to home users imho, supreme flexibility, but you need to know your way around the CLI as already mentioned.

As curiosityx said varies really

I've voted for Cisco.

I use Cisco at work and at home, however for the average home user something else as Cisco is expensive.

(I've had too many problems with Linksys and Netgear to be able to reccomend them)

Cisco, not just because I rely on them for work, but because of all the extra debugs that can be performed. If I could afford a 877w for home I'd have one, but since I can't I got a netgear for my Wi-Fi.

I've got D-link kit which has been is fine for me in the house, as had been my old Netgear kit. I'm not bothered about brand or model unless it gets bad reviews.

What about HP? Can we have that in the poll? We use their stuff at work and it's rock solid :)

I wouldn't have thought OcUK were focusing on the business market thus ruling hp out slightly. Although it would be good to see some HP kit in the mix.

Well, i'll be flamed but i'm one of the Belkin voters.

I've never had a problem with mine until a powersurge and since i bought my new replacement its just improved on the first one. The wireless connection never drops to the family lappys.

I've used Netgear and Linksys at work and they both seemed pretty good, had more options and settings than the belkin too. I'll probably go with netgear when 'n' becomes the standard. Always look high quality even if they cost abit more. (Well they do where i work anyway.)

:)
