So late last night after a beer or two I decided in a fit of irritation after trying to find something it was time to rationalise down by seventy gabillion favourites replicated across my assorted browsers. Digging through surprised me just how many I haven't used for years, or don't even exist any more, yet I diligently back my favourites up and reinstall them with each new device.

So, turning over a fresh leaf I'm starting from scratch for the first time since the late 90s. I've taken over a few sites I still use and need but I'll throw it open to you lovely GD people. Time for me to get away from clicking the same old sites and see what I'm missing.

So, what are your top 3 or 5 websites you couldn't do without and use regularly? GDs "best of the web" if you will. Try to restrain yourselves from the expected "Manga kitten porn" even if it is your home page :D

This surely comes down to what your interests are. But for me, apart from things like Gmail obviously, it would be Rate Your Music, Last FM and Discogs. I have about ten websites that I visit every day which are music related.

I hate how Facebook tries to make itself a "one stop shop" for most things on the internet. It's actually very limiting.

Indeed, but then I figure this could be a good opportunity to widen my view of the internet away from just the same old sites (which is why I didn't add mine, I didn't want to colour the responses). I'm sure there will be some common "general purpose" sites people use as well as ones specific to interests. We might turn up some decent alternatives for sites people have just got used to using.

My favourites I couldn't do without are;

Google analytics
Google adsense
Hotmail
Slashdot
Help4mobiles
Daily mail :D

And of course the ones I own :)

I visit the Daily Mail website because I like to know in advance what GD is going to be outraged about or spending 20 pages arguing about.
