Favourite Songs of All Time?

Same thing I say every time, Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird. Probably the greatest song of all time for me and one that I never tire of hearing, in fact most of Lynyrd Skynrd's back catalogue is pretty good but that one is my favourite.

I could probably easily list a top 10 or even a top 100 of great songs that I never tire of but if it comes down to 1 then that is it.

Having re-watched The Devils Rejects this week I can now honestly say that that song has become my new bestest song everer :D :D

The whole scene at the end of the movie where the song is playing gives me chills & chokes me up & the song has exactly the same effect even without the visuals.

Fantastic track.
How I never discovered it before I saw that movie is beyond me but I'm so glad I did an absolute corker.

Out of everything I know, Radiohead's - Paranoid Android is one I keep going back to. Absolutely sublime. Like 'Happyness is a warm gun'... but better!

Ack, can't pick just one....my top 10, off the top of me head, would probably be...

Life is Sweet - Natalie Merchant
Tiny Dancer - Elton John
Made of Stone - Stone Roses
I Am The Resurrection - Stone Roses
Time - Pink Floyd
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
High & Dry - Radiohead
Like A Prayer - Madonna
Zooropa - U2
Losing My Religion - REM

But I can easily think of another 10.........bah, these sort of threads are evil :(

No, no, no. Lynyrd Skynyrd died in 1977. Whatever has been recorded since live or in a studio is not LS. If you wnat to judge Skynyrd live you must listen to One More From the Road. I prefer Tuesday's Gone to Freebird.

Slightly pedantic but true enough :) I don't think that everything a band with that name(if you prefer to look at it that way) has done since '77 has been bad though. I'd somehow forgotten about Tuesday's Gone but I would still rate Freebird as way above it.

Radiohead - lucky
Interpol - Lief Erikson
A tribe called quest - Check the ryhme
Tool - Pushit (live)
Kinks - living on a thine line
stone roses - This is the one
Boris - Pink !!!
Arcade fire - laika
Isis - Hym

I cant really choose a all time favourite and the selection above are just a few Ive loved in the past or are really enjoying now.

Hallelujah (and Jeff Buckley's cover of it)

Very good song :) Don't really have a faviourite song, depends on what mood I am in or I might just be bored of the song I suppose.

I have three all-time favourites that never change:

Since I've Been Loving You - Led Zepellin
Just Pretend - Elvis Presley
Running Up That Hill - Kate Bush

You're asking the impossible!

Though with a gun to my head I'd mostly say Whole Lotta Love.

Sublime riff, great vocals, a theremin and a tight little solo.

It's a hard thing to choose but there's always an occasion where you hear a song and it sticks with you. You never tire of it and always smile when you hear it.
That's my definition of favourite.
