Fawlty Towers to return

Cleese is just too old to be able to generate the same energy and innovation as the originals.

They will either draw on nostalgia and copy the same jokes as the original (but will lose the edgyness) or they will go for some cheap jokes and a fake audience.

I agree that there is an extremely high change that this will be rubbish, and even if it is half-decent it'll still be a fail as it'll always be compared

FT was not just cleese it was the entire assemble cast that made it, they just worked together. Now take a writter who is now in his early 80s, whats the chance he can make something fresh that's relevant and actually funny and then gather by chance a cast that works so well together. When someone goes back to something so long ago, it's because they are out of ideas.

Cleese has been quite open about needing money, and a sure way to get this is to be anti woke and cancelled.

It's a pity that he is tarnishing his legacy, though I never revered Fawlty Towers. It was revolutionary in its time, but that was 50 years ago
