Fax Software and Email solution ?

I need to get something working so that faxes received on the office fax is emailed to me.

I'm often waiting important faxes AOH but have no idea when they'll arrive so I have to keep calling into the office to check.

I was thinking of utilising an old laptop and some sort of fax software on it. Problem is I don't know if it's possible or the easiest way of achieving this.

The laptop is quite old and running XP and the solution must be very cheap!

Ohh and before anyone says.. yeah I know Fax is outdated but it's a government body that I'm dealing with and they can't justify a scanner....

It's certainly possible. I used to have some software that would do just that but it was in the days when you had your PC connected to your phone line via a modem so receiving faxes was easy.

There are quite a few services offering free online fax numbers and also web-based services. I haven't used any of them myself so can't really make a recommendation. I can only suggest that you try Googling "free online fax number" or "virtual fax machine" and then research the results. Good luck.

Thanks, I'd thought about the free online fax thing but they usually have a number connected to them and I really need to use the one at the office as I know a change of number after all these years would just confuse things and I'd end up not getting the faxes at all.
