FEAR Crashes.

i have an origional verison of F.E.A.R on DVD, it installs fine, when i go to run the game, the screen goes black and it stops responding, any ideas?

Tried changing graphics drivers?

Try doing a fresh install and then installing the patches straight afterwards. Remember to download the UK versions of the patches and not the US ones.

its the sound, if i disable it, it loads fine. :mad:

any ideas on a fix?

Is it EAX or just any sound enabled which causes the crash?
Update you sound drivers?

in the config thing, if i disable the sound in there it seems to load perfect.

i had the same kind of problem, if u have any kind of codec pack e.g. ace mega codec pack that could be causing the problem.
try disabling or uninstaling a codec pack if you have one.
if not have a look through the readme it has a few known issues and fixes.

well thats **** are there any really good codec packs out there that done have issues? or is it the codecs themselves that the game has a problem with?

Well have you tried it without the codecs yet...did it work?

I played FEAR fine with the FFDSHOW codec pack.
