Febi Parts, Any good?

My Febi wishbone bushes were totally shot after about 10 months and 18k miles. Went with genuine parts to replace them after that. 3x the cost but should last a lot longer than that!

Was probably gunned on.

Most dumbo fitters just fit the part with the car in the air and the wheels drooped, lower the car to the ground and the bushes are then at the limit of their elastic travel (wound-up) so then when you go over a bump, they tear with those little curved rips in the manner clearly seen in the photo.

THIS! THIS! THIS!

The final tighting into place needs to be done with the wheels on the ground with the suspension in its neutral position!

Do this wrong and yes, they will be dead within months! (Unless of course you have a properly engineered vehicle like, say, a 2CV, that used taper roller bearings for suspension links rather than horrible metalastic bushes! ;) )

Air gunned on so it's toruqed to something like 400 ft instead of 85.

I understand that, but the bush on mine is the rear one and is vertical, gunned on or not makes no difference. PLus it was me that fitted them and they were torqued up with new bolts as they are stretch bolts.

I've never found them that good. I returned the last engine mounts I bought that were Febi back to eurocar parts and bought Genuine volvo items.

decided to go against the febi ones, and ordered some MOOG branded ones. not heard of MOOG before but few car forums seem to think they are not too bad.

anyone else used or heard of MOOG?

I ordered and fitted some moog upper arms for my A8 from mister-auto.
They are fine 18 months later (as they should be). I chickened out on the lower ones and got OE TRW, but 18 months later I would consider moog.
Moog also do uprated parts in the USA - any parts that were originally under-provisioned or underspec'ed are beefed up so as not to fail so easily.

Made in China.

Not very good at all tbh, I've had no experience with them myself but have yet to hear anything positive about them.

Whenever I search febi bilstein review on google, this thread comes up and it's a shame this is the first reply that comes.

The user admits they have no experience with them, and because they're made in China and they haven't heard glowing reviews about them then they must be junk.

Almost everything is made in China. Febi make OEM parts for a lot of cars, most basic components are made in China anyway, just because it's made in China does not make it junk. iPhones and Playstations are made in China. Name me a better built smartphone or games console made in Germany?

Fairy's muff, Ive removed the post.

my moog wishbones seems to be on their way out. getting some wandering when on the motorway under acceleration and braking. this time going with the meyle HD wishbones. will see if they really have engineered a better bushing as their brochure says.

This is why I work on my own cars and dont take it to mechanics. Mechanics would love nothing more than to put in a brand new fully fitted wishbone and charge you for the part. More often than not, the car doesn't need new wishbones but needs new bushes. Which is a fiddle to take out, I have done this work myself without a press, using holesaw and threaded bar to squeeze the bushes out. A propely kitted garage should have the press available to do this job.

think i will keep my old wishbones and if the ball joints are good will see if i can clean them up and put some powerflex bushes in.
anyone got experience with poly bushes? do they really last longer?
