i have the alivesata2-Glan mb, and every now and then when it could boot up, it would get stuck with the error code "6b38" (right before it does the harddrive checking) and stop. after 8 - 20 mins, it would work and say press F1 to continue as there is hardware probs and then wont do anything

i can somtimes get into bios but would be so slow that it would take 10 seconds to respond to simple arrow keys...!! grr!!!!!!

now i want to change my MB!!! also the processor... and eventually my GFX card... but dont want to have to change any thing else.

about £300 to spend, i have an AMD 5600 64bit X2 CPU which i want to change aswell...

my ram is DDR2 4x 1gb 800mhz which cost £140 so i dont want to change that. decent PSU etc, what shall i upgrade to? i will sell my old MB and CPU on ebay (only 3 month old less than so can get some money back on it)

something like this?

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
(£187.99)

Gigabyte GA_P35_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
(£88.11)

Total : £285.80

I would sell your AMD CPU and for your budget as mattyfez points out you can have a really nice quad core intel CPU and a great motherboard. I would personally rather have the P35-DS3P model due to less issues with coolers, and also it's a better model albeit for the same price (more features such as Crossfire support and better board layout). If you do get the Q6600 though make sure you get the "Energy Efficient Edition" as it's the G0 stepping and uses less power and it's cooler overall because of that (it's about £10 more than the older stepping version - but worth it).

Seeing as you have all the AM2 kit already & it's hardly bad, you should just get a new mainboard. Something based on the N Force 570 U chipset is cost effective & offers good performance.
Although you may not need a new board at all, if you are prepared to spend the time trouble shooting your existing one.

I agree. There's nothing exactly wrong with AM2 rigs. I would keep your cpu, get a decent motherboard for it and get rid of that awful 8500 and get a decent card.

pc working well again, took out all those ****** fans with the LED's, my IDE Harddrives, and its working again!! although upgrading nearly everything

That would suggest that your PSU was being overly taxed by your setup, which it shouldn't have been, seeing as it's rated 600w. Many PSU's can't do their rated specification though. I don't know much about Jeantech, are they a reputable manufacturer ?
