I backed this on Kickstarter, and had a go on the prototype over the weekend.

All I can say is wow!

Have never been convinced by driving games, but Project Cars was genuinely fun when paired with the simulator.

Hi ale bro,

I am a fellow backer and would love to learn more about your experience as I unfortunately will not be able to make it to London for a demo.

Did you ever experience any other motion rigs ? If yes, how did it compare?
How was the sensation of driving PJC2, did it feel convincing in terms of g-forces, drag, acceleration, braking ?
Did you try Elite Dangerous ?

Mark put up a quick short video of me talking about it on the kickstarter page.

for raw footage see this: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/363371099

it's a bit noisy but that is because he used the wrong bolts when he reassembled it - it should be fixed in the final version.

you can try elite dangerous this saturday or next saturday at the demo.

G-forces were spot on - acceleration and braking. I could really feel the car when the back slid out, overcorrecting into oscillations felt quite similar to when it's happened IRL.

Since I've been home I've started putting flight time into VTol VR - the dev is interested in the simulator so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the response, very encouraging! I indeed had seen the video, but didn’t grasp that it was you. You seemed quite positive in the clip, good to see it confirmed also without a camera pointed at you. Did you see any other demo participants, were any more scheduled ? I guess for anybody outside of the UK it’s rather inconvenient to travel to London just for a demo, especially where the decision to pledge has been made anyhow.

The noise thing hopefully will be resolved, my main playing time is at night when the family is asleep, that could limit its use quite a bit. I remember Mark posting that the transducers were supposed to be the noisy elements and if turned off would allow for muted operation of the rig.
How smooth was the motion, did you feel shocks or was a one movement ?

Did Mark hint at the timing in any way, whether everything is on track or delays are to be expected ? I guess it might be a bit early for such assessment but any ifnromation is appreciated.

Sorry for resembling the Spanish inquisition but it is great to get to hear out an independent witness to this rig at last.

Edit: I thought you were referring to the video Mark had posted but just checked your link, no, it‘s a different one, great ! I can see a couple of guys sitting there, other demo participants I assume ? Would be just lovely if they could share their experiences too.

there was only one other backer there - it was short notice, like two days or something. I'm sure that some more backers will give some feedback over the next weeks.

i am tempted to go back and take a look at elite dangerous..

being brutally honest, kickstarters are never on time. they are like german trains (have waited for years to say that).

i have no reason to think this one will be delayed, but also i have no reason to think that the timetable was ever realistic and not just an aspiration.

I love the idea of this, especially if they can add heave to the seat module... The only thing that stops me buying is lack of space to store it. I think that is going to be this things biggest issue in pushing sales to a wider market - even many of those that can drop a couple of grand on a toy, will lack space for it.

My intention is to build myself a more traditional motion sim at some point (too many projects!) that can be bit more compact, especially in "storage mode". Won't be as cool, but better than nothing!

I really wish I had the space, I've got money saved up for a motion rig. The area needed for this is bigger than my mancave/office lol. Might need to tighten the harness next time, it looked like you were getting thrown around quite a lot, which is awesome frankly.

Good Man Ale Bro, looks awesome. Do hope that they fix the noise for the final release.

For anyone that like Flights Sim, Elite dangerous, driving sims and has the space(and cash), this looks like a must have.

And from facial expressions at the start of clip I thought you were watching some kind of horror movie not playing a driving game :p

I am painfully aware that Kickstarter projects are often late, just let me dream on please... but okay, I'll expect the kind of shorter delay of 3-6m but hope it doesn't go beyond that. I know, that's optimistic at best.
But I am really hyped for this rig, it just looks so intense. Probably won't fly 3-4 h sessions of Elite Dangerous in it as it would seem to be a bit too laborious but for short intense sessions I'd just love it. Let's just keep fingers crossed that Mark manages to transition this into volume production. Actually I am sort of glad that it was a good success but not silly numbers, because with the current order log he and the team hopefully will manage to tweak & support every single of them to a certain degree to make them work.

On the German trains part - being a German I would want to take offence but I can't really argue. Haven't used one in years, the delays were killing me... I guess the best you can say is that they don't crash. Well, not that often. And if they do, only because the train dispatcher didn't pay attention as he was playing games on his smartphone... and while we're at it, please don't let it be hotter than say 35° C in the interior. The airco's aren't suited for temperatures above that and will shut off. Can't open the windows either. Makes sense.

I remember seeing that you can tone down the response to something less extreme if you wish.

For longer sessions you could just run it on a more gentle profile so you don't get the snot shaken out of you for hours at a time, but still enjoy more immersion.

Or, you know, man up ;)

True, that's a good option. About being the tough guy - if you drvive karts once in a while, you'll know how draining even 20 minutes feel (if you aren't used to it). So perhaps over time I'll toughen up, but surely at first I'll not expect to go for long sessions straight away...

It is a great idea, most motion sims can't sustain the G force, but the Feel Three can hold you in a position that will sustain those G forces...I really wish I had space. I very nearly backed it until I measured up and found if I put it in my mancave I wouldn't actually be able to open the door. The missus wasn't happy with the opening out idea either, gutted!

Personally, I think it's better suited to flight stuff. Reminds me of the old Afterburner arcade machine :D
Getting chucked around like that in a race doesn't appeal to me. Something like a G-Seat and a conventional motion platform has more appeal and takes up a little less space, but it'll cost a lot more.

Sure, you can turn it down I guess...
