Haven't looked at this forum for a while (year or two), but always remembered it as a really good fun place - lots of silly and good natured banter.

Find this lot on the first page: -

Is it always like this these days???

House price crash
Credit card fraud
Total cost of uni
R.I.P. Nicola
Been assaulted
Woman Rings Me From America. Wierd.
Going into hospital today for my last operation
Dodgy Rolex Sale?
Death- phrases used to describe it.

:(

Welcome back. :)

I heartily agree with you...seems to be the fashion here at the moment; basically scouring for the most appalling/upsetting news stories they can find then posting them in here.

Kinda depressing.

Silly and good natured banter is seen as spam these days, or thats how I understand it anyway. I think the general content has improved since The Don To Rule All Dons ( :p ) has returned, but in general, it's not the funny place it used to be. :(

you forgot to include the threads where someone posts an obscure and trivial news article which illustrates how the country is going down the pan...

Well, you've got to admit, it's all a bit depressing.

Anyone got any reasons to be cheerful?

Not looking at the car insurance quotes I got today, no. :p

Not even music has cured this downer yet. :(

Its just so tempting to blow the cash I had saved on a Dell 2407 and some Logitech Z5400's. Oh, and the Eclipse II.

Dont seem to be so much fun these days does it, the first two threads I have read today, both ended up with various people slagging each other off, seems so inviting.

Anyone got any reasons to be cherful?

Well i'm designing a leaflet and some business cards for a driving instructor, sent him the design so far and he loves it. I was doing it for free as he was a friend of a friend and i had some spare time, but he has told me he will give em fre driving lessons till my test, so i'm pretty happy with that. Got my final interview for a job i really want on wednesday, really looking forward to that.

I've just got through my first wedding anniversary since I split with my ex, and I'm smiling :) Feeling pretty bloody good actually!

Several reasons to be cheerful over here:-

Beloved OH's 6 year long compensation court case just concluded so we can get on with our lives at last. Before anyone asks, no we can't retire to the south of France

Just come back from a totally amazing holiday in Cuba. Can't recommend it enough, but the only trouble is that we took over 1000 photos, so now we've got to sift through and decide which ones we want to keep.

Had dinner (and a shed load of wine) last night with 19 fantastic friends in a great Italian restaurant

I know that it sounds corny, but I am sure that there are many who would agree, you have to be thankful for your health and friends as they are both precious and very easily lost.

Cheer up people. Yes there are many threads on this forum that are sad, and I have been in tears this evening reading one particular thread, but you have to hug your nearest and dearest a little tighter and be thankful for what you've got.
