On 1xtra yesterday during my drive home Mr Jam was talking about Valentines day or whatever and kept asking for people to text in their opinion if they were "female identifying".

Surely he can simply say "female" though, right? The whole thing of someone who identifies as female is about them saying "I am female" (regardless of whether they actually are) when identifying themselves, not "I am female identifying" - at one point he even said "male identifying"... Is the world getting stupider?

It's pathetic ain't it? It's got so ******* ridiculous that a friend of mine was asked what his little boy identifies as when he enrolled him at nursery school, he's two.

Surely they simply used ‘female identifying’ to distinguish between sex and gender. It really isn’t a sign of the world getting stupider, just being clear and respectful of those who prefer to self identify.

What you talking?

He wanted females (including those who "identify as female" ) meaning he still just needed to ask for "females".

God help a school if they ask me what my son identifies as. Your either a man or a woman, there are no other options. You are what you were born as also.

Ah another day another GD gender rant..

Honestly I don't really care what people call themselves, you can identify as a pineapple for all I care. But be prepared to call yourself something sensible biologically for medical reasons etc.

It's not about what people call themselves, it's about the grasp of the English language. And to a lesser degree this apparent need to pander to the latest socially dominant demographic.

Isn't it though? Certainly on here it's always a case of "biologically you're either one of the other" (hermaphrodite is generally overlooked ironically).

Edit - as for the pandering part I'm going to loosely compare this to homosexuality. Once that was a social hot topic (also illegal for some time) but now pretty normal and accepted (for the mos part) in society.

Maybe you can turn the thread into that, but hopefully you won't as that is not what this thread is meant to be about.
