First bits of Ferrari's first EV starting to appear, may as well have a thread.

Interior design by a former Apple designer, and it definitely shows, for me the most obvious part is the bezels on the screens that look very iPad. I also don't like the screen that looks like it belongs in a tractor cabin, but nice to see loads of physical buttons. Of course the whole EV Ferrari thing will be debated for the rest of eternity, but there's no denying that it'll help fund more of Ferrari's core products.

We'll see.

I really like the interior so far. Lovely wheel that is mostly simple and analogue as a drivers car should be. Retro inspired gauges with a binnacle that moves with the wheel says driver focussed. Physical controls for important stuff but digital touchscreen for modern features. See (every other automaker), it can be done…! A great blend of form and function. Probably more on the form side (its a Ferrari after all) but the feeling it invokes is spot on.

As for the lack of engine, as much as I love them too, well, we have to get with the times. I hope Ferrari can show us something we can lust after despite it being electric. If they can’t who can.

From the auto express article..

However, the new Testarossa’s plug-in hybridpetrol V8 can’t come close to the EV’s combined 11,500Nm of torque when Launch mode is activated.

That’s a lot of torques!

That steering wheel and dials reminds me of a cheap ass Logitech sim setup I had years ago, using an old Android phone for the dials.

I'll be interesting how the Ferrari PR machine can spin their usual 'passion' angle in to something as humdrum as an EV.

Looks fantastic I think, a very intriguing mix of digital and physical switchgear. Better than anyone else has managed I think so far. Even has physical needles in the gauges! Vastly better than some other brands have managed (I’m looking at you Mercedes).

Still not completely convinced about a Ferrari EV though.

I was reading down this thread incredulous that I hadn't seen this comment. It looks exactly like a cheap PC steering wheel!

Oh look a car interior designed by someone who puts aesthetics over function - brought to you by the person who refused to give iPhone good battery life because they need to be as thin as possible.

Ive shouldn’t design a phone, let alone a car interior.

He was someone we studied quite a lot in product design engineering modules at university, as in “how not to do it”.

Really though? There’s a lot of physical switchgear in that interior. Way more than some conventional car makers have been using lately. I would say it looks like a very well thought out design from a driver perspective.

I think maybe we are confused between sim racing wheels and the wheels they are actually inspired by.

This wheel looks like a high quality Momo-style metal wheel with an airbag. I have a momo wheel with airbag in my car and it’s not exactly the same (this is much more premium), it’s the same vibe. I.e. sports/racing inspired with some comforts (I welcome the airbag).

The F40 wheel for example is…basic. It is perfect for the application though.

Racking my brains maybe this is kind of like a 456 wheel meets a 348 wheel? It’s obviously neither but I like it except for the flat bottom. Round is the ideal shape for a road car wheel.

The indicators are buttons on the arms of the wheel, and those dials look absolutely tiny and fiddly to use. It's all aesthetics over function.
