Ferrari Luce EV

After the Jag disaster I just can't begin to fathom why someone at Ferrari of all places would think this was a good idea.

Yep especially after they missed their earnings target last month. First move should have been to shelve this.

I just don't get why they've built a crossover, its not like they couldn't build a decent sports car if they wanted to, heck the Pininfarina Batista is a prime example of what you can do if you want to (I'd mention a Chinese car but thread would end up off topic). I guess the real reason is they realise people who want a Ferrari badge but not a sport car or a Lambo Anus/Range Rover alternative etc.

Whoose going to pay 500k plus for something that looks like a generic 50k saloon car with stats that trades blows with Tesla's that sell for a fraction of the sticker price?

3 billion of their stock price is a clear early indicator of what a miss they've come with

But it’s the styling which has people online picking up pitchforks and engaging in debates, because this is a very un-Ferrari-looking Ferrari. With design input from the Lovefrom agency (run by former iPhone designer Jony Ive and Mark Newson), there’s a clear resemblance to sleek consumer items from Apple.

Well, that explains a lot.

So why has no one managed it so far?

Evija, Nevera, Cyberster, Project V, Battista to name a few. There aren't many, true, they all have flaws, and there's always an amount of personal taste going on but these are also the early days of EVs.

This feels like Ferrari phoning it in so they can say they have an EV on paper. Not a smart move for the brand. If they don't start building the high end, wall poster, cars of the future then someone else will beat them to it.

An aspiration to an ageing generation. I doubt today’s youth are putting posters of Ferraris on their walls, at a push it’s probably a picture of the OF girl they’re subbed to.

Are you saying only older people are into cars and 100% of young'uns are into OF girls instead? pfft, I had FMH posters on the wall in my room in uni too.

I know you know the point I am making...

Nah, society just changed. Social identity for a lot of youth is less about what car you drive and more about online clout, followers on the gram, Twitch viewers etc. FHM posters don’t match the pristine aesthetic of whatever influencer they follow..

At a guess, modern car culture has become niche now. Either appreciation for classics(even our generation of stuff) or how fancy the ipad is in your Tesla.

Brands like Ferrari are just trying to move with the times, trying to tap into that next gen of buyers.. or as i said earlier catering to the incoming AI tech bro overlords who want a gadget with a fancy badge

The number of young people into cars is NOT zero.

We both know that much.

Society and what is cool has changed, you don’t need to tell me but we both know there are still people into cars of all ages. It may be less but it’s not zero.

Which is my original point, to THOSE people. Not the Fortnite or Minecraft crowd.

I don’t know why I need to explain that there are still young people into cars and that number isn’t zero.

Weird.

The Ferrari board lacks visionaries, lacks anyone with any real balls.

It didn’t take bravery to launch a car like this for Ferrari, it’s just hubris.

Wtf are you on about? I said car culture was becoming niche and made a joke about the youth having posters of OF models on their walls?

Get over yourself

Whilst technically a Ferrari, that's thing is not a Ferrari. What the world needs is another screaming Flat-12 monster.

nobody has disagreed with that and I knew that before you pointed it out, because it is obvious.

Stop pointing out the obvious things like there are still young people who like cars, no matter how niche that may be, that number isn’t zero. And that there are young people who still sees Ferrari as an aspirational brand/car they want. That number also isn’t zero.

For the 4th and final time, that was the point, an obvious point that you keep missing. That no matter how you try to frame car culture is a niche, that there is still a culture for cars, it is for those people my original post was directed at, because I know the number isn’t zero.

Obviously.

And men have been putting women posters on their wall for as long as the invention of paper. I also didn’t read that as a joke.

The entire point was Ferrari is supposedly to be as aspirational brand, you are just arguing something completely different, the car culture…the fact that up until now, Ferrari is an aspirational brand isn’t in dispute, is it?

Mate, i dont know what high horse you’re on tonight but nowhere did i say there was zero people into cars. I made a tongue in cheek comment about youngsters not having pictures of ferraris on their walls and you’ve blown it into a thing

Manufacturers like ferrari need to sell a volume of cars and keep up with ever changing markets and demographics, thats the point, no matter who has posters up in their bedrooms

Get a grip of yourself
